^exactly, and the difference with lv bag is that every wannabe idiot walks around with fake lv bags, and everyone knows the logo, the bee is more subtle and who will know it's dior homme?

 The only way wearing a bee could qualify as showing off is if you were actually around people who had any idea what it is, and the chances of that are slim to none in most places. 99.9% of people would think a Polo horse or Lacoste crocodile is more showoff-ish.

I was wondering if anybody could tell me the names of the different collections? I always get them mixed up...

A/W 2001: Solitaire S/S 2002: Boys Don't Cry/RED - A/W 2002: Reflection S/S 2003: Follow Me A/W 2003: Luster S/S 2004: Strip
A/W 2004: Victim of the Crime

S/S 2005: NamelessA/W 2005: Everybody Just Looks The Same / In the Morning
S/S 2006: The world was a mess but his hair were perfect
F/W 2006: As tears go by

i'm looking to buy a DH white dress shirt, do they make one without a bee? i think the ones with bees are tacky.

Yes they do. Just ask at your local DH boutique or dept. store. They are likely to carry both styles.

Interestingly enough, before DH really "got big", the bee could be found integrated in interesting ways. Back during Reflection there was a white dress shirt that had a large bee on the upper back collar. They also had full-back embroidered bee designs on some sleeveless shirts too... but I guess they're tacky now...

Ah well.

A lot of people here are like, "Plenty of other labels cut slim and do small sizes," yet I NEVER actually see proof of these small sizes existing. And honestly, there's usually not much in those brands that makes me want to spend months hunting down something that will fit me.

Two points:

1. There's slim (D&G, Dsquared) and there's SLIM (Dior Homme, Helmut Lang, old Raf Simons). The former tends to be tacky, gaudy, show-every-muscle&balls slim. The latter is classy slim - I like to think of it as French chic slim (for non-Dior references, see APC catalogue [although it's arguable that brand is slim fitting, or Tati's films especially Playtime - those pants)

2. Other brands may claim to be slim but searching for size S is like looking for needles in a haystack, therein lies the concept of opportunity costs.

I'm surprise no brand caters to the slim market before Dior Homme (Prada, HL and Raf Simons are the closest). Look who is laughing all the way to the bank now.

whether or not anyone likes to admite it...
DH is also able to connect on a more abstract level.
there is an, dare i say, emotional attatchment there that brands like DandG and dsquared basically fail to offer...like finding your soul mate.
you can accuse DH of just marketing a lifestyle brand or cashing in on an overlooked niche market blah blah...
but i think it runs a bit deeper.
B) .

are the names for these collections official names given by hedi slimane, or are they like street names?

i thought as tear go by was hedi's art project?

I can't rememeber where i've read this, but kind of sure it was associated with the fw 06 collection. Or it could be "these grey days" if you take the name of the song...

On Helmut Lang, I always found a strange discrepancy between the way runway items seemed to be fitted and the actual retail garments. For the size, Helmut Lang pretty damn brutally slim, not in a skinny Dior way, more like a "you can almost make it but sorry your *** and thighs are too fat" fit...How terribly mean! But you'd never know it based on how his stuff is worn on the runway. Go figure, maybe that was his mistake in positioning the brand?

Can't say I'm truly complaining though, as I just recieved a lovely jet black pair of jeans on Yoox for a mere $88, the last size 31 in fact :). Amazing stuff.

Hello, this is my first post to this forum. Does anyone know where to get that Dior blazer with the wolves imprinted at the back? Also, might as well ask for your opinions on the item, so feel free to add in any comments.

Does anyone know the real meaning of the Dior Homme logo?

The bee is a reference to Napoleon. Napoleon himself had a bee stitched onto his famous red cape. The bee symbolized both immortality and "teamwork", both of which Napoleon wanted for his army.

No problem!

Does anybody know the exact retail price (USD) for these 06 S/S destroyed jeans?

needs to go a little deeper than that. Clovis, the most famous king of ancient gaul adopted the bee (representing industry, wisdom and obedience) as his symbol. Napoleon followed Clovis in having the image of a bee embroidered on his clothing. The bee embroidery for dior homme, apparently, was Hedi Slimane's idea, presumably as a reference to napoleon.

I pasted that from a previous post on here from disstop
