Discussion: Who Should Be The Creative Director of Balenciaga?

Anybody who says Martine Rose is an idiot. She's a great designer but she's just too similar to Balenciaga. Makes sense given she worked on the menswear but still. Martine is 1/2 to 1/4 of the price of Balenciaga with the same sort of ethos. She doesn't seem like somebody who would be willing to stop her brand either. Only way I could see it is emphasizing Balenciaga's take on modern day rich people the same what that Martine takes on the working class but that seems not only boring but just not sustainable creatively.

It does make sense actually as she probably needs more cash flow for her own brand. I mean look at the ridiculous amount of collabs she does.

They need womenswear, shoes, bags and couture. It’s not gonna be MR for this reason in my opinion. They should not go with the designer with no “big brand” experience. My bets are on Peter.

How have the bags under Demna been selling? I haven't seen the handbag freaks comment on them very much out in the wild.

Taken from BoringNotCom's post, a few suggestions from followers have made me cackle. Granted they did ask for women designers:
Bianca Saunders
Feben
Martine Rose
Wales Bore-ner
Mowalola
Supriya Lele

Martine Rose is actually okay, even Nicolas Ghesquiere supports her. If they want a hyped designer, then Craig Green

Okay just a silly comment, but with all the posts about "Galliano should go back to Dior", I'm shocked nobody here has said "Nicolas should go back to Balenciaga!" yet

I has said in the "who should be the cd of Gucci" thread 😔
Yesss omg, idgaf about Gucci. LVMH pls steal Balenciaga and give it to Ghesquiere

ghesquire is just fine at vuitton. ill stop caring about these musical chairs. the outcomes rarely make sense. Better to have a "Your perfect designer + brand delusion" thread than to keep guessing who will be at the helm of these heritage houses. Only to be surprised that they once again have chosen a grindr twink who wants to be intellectual and have 0 sexuality or elegance.

Look, I want Balenciaga to be stored and compete with Dior in the style space. I don't know if it will happen but I don't need any edgy brand. I want a couture house that knows how to cut patterns and make great accessories. But given it's Kering, this is wishful thinking.

Right ! Kering is always trying to compete with LVMH, but they have nothing comparable to Dior in the portfolio. I guess the closest is Saint Laurent, but they don't do haute couture because that's owned by another entity, I believe. Especially with two super artsy designers going to Dior and Chanel, the space and lane are wide open.
