Discussion: Who Should Be The Creative Director of Chanel?

they( Channel management ) regret pricing out people with the chanel classic bag and the sales with in this year are experiencing slower growth.
its hard to go back now with adjusting this price increases.
These people are paid hundreds of thousands of dollars and have many analysts but couldn't see that. Girl lol

It baffles me that these brands are so greedy that they can't understand their actual positioning.
Tbh, I’m so mad about the 2:55. They raised the price because it’s an iconic bag but it’s not even a bag that was sellling that much!
It's crazy that they raised the price lol. they were always a hard sell when I worked there. I wanted one for myself as I think it works well on men. I love the chain and it's such a practical bag. But that bag would get returned a lot, I hated selling it and stopped pushing because most women want the CCs.
The funny thing is I see lots of people wearing dupes of the 2.55 but hardly ever the actual bag. I have an odd and pretentious admiration when I see a woman carrying one.

That’s why I want it to happen! It would be a big swing.
I don't hate the idea of Marc at Chanel either, he has that certain ability to work with camp and the label does need to inch away from VV's boring 'good taste'
but Blazy? Yeah I'm up for that too. I like his Bottega (and now I'm remembering when Susie Bubble - a TFS member, no less - covered his student collection back in 2007!)

I like both the classic and the 2:55 (I also love the discontinued Mademoiselle) but the 2:55 has that extra thing for me. I don’t get unwanted attention with it.
I think a lot of women wants the CC because they wants people to be able to know it’s a Chanel bag from afar but in reality, the various versions of that bag are as exciting as the regular version.

Ironically, I have 5 2:55 and neither of them is the classic one in black leather. At the time, I preferred buying the classic one in Jersey.

I think the bag was around 5K/6K when Karl died and at the time, I had a block! Now I’m crying.

But I have faith that people will rediscover the beauty of that bag.

You all deserve to be slapped hard by both Bruno and Leena with them agreeing to promote an unknown figure from the design team as a reward for raising so many pointless speculations honestly.

MissTweed deserved to be slapped. Nobody’s speculations or discussions in here is making the News at WWD, Le Figaro, BOF or elsewhere.
If one thing, we are giving Bruno ideas.

Augustin Dolmaillot was leading the studio collection non?

This is him.

SayWho

Augustin Dol-Maillot, 34-35 years old, currently DA of Barrie, formerly part of the Chanel design team. Barrie is a cashmere and denim production house based in Hawick, Scotland. was acquired by Chanel's MdA in 2012 with Dol-Maillot becoming the brand's DA in 2019.

I really hope it's not him. His Barrie pretty much looks like a streetwear version of VV's Chanel.

At the risk of infuriating some members with idle speculation - and knowing full well it would never happen - how do you all think Tom Ford would fare at Chanel, either in his prime or *gasp*...now?

In his prime it would have been a dream...now it would be just another merchandise parade (with some sex).

I feel like maybe not, because he is a child of Balenciaga. Maybe he still remembers whatever drama caused Chanel and Balenciaga's friendship to end?. He might hold a grudge against the house for that!!

While I think there is a valid reason why Marc Jacobs is being speculated (not just him thrusting himself into the conversation last minute). I see him so much more than Blazy but I don't think his recent work is that good. He relies on too many collabs all which resort to meh accessories. The recent Stephen Sprouse x Marc Jacobs collab was a rehash of what he did at LV. The Marc Jacobs x Fendi collab was pretty terrible. The overly graphic black and white font with "The Baguette". Terrible. Sure he is whimsical and comical in his designs. But nothing he has done of late has been critically acclaimed or even that commercially interesting. Sure he's been riding on "The Tote Bags" for several years now. But he's lost his spark. Maybe the Vogue cover got us talking, but his actual designs don't feel as relevant.

It’s getting to the point where we all gonna lose our interest haha, I think that Chanel is looking for 35-45 years old, proven in one of the main houses, with experience in accessories, RTW, jewellery, image and attempt to follow or create cultural zeitgeist. That’s the profil I think they’re looking for so I’m betting my money on Blazy or some of his peers rather than big names in their 60s…Chanel, from all of the info we got so far is looking for 10+ years contract hopefully renewed once (or 4 times 3 years contract and so on).
