Dita Likes Hers Shaken And Stirred

dita_1315290_1.jpg

Burlesque favorite, Dita Von Teese passed through NYC last week to promote her two-year endorsement of Cointreau. We caught up with the sexy pinup icon at the Ritz-Carlton to sip the signature Cointreaupolitan, and get some advice on copping lingerie for wifey. “I would say go together and see what she picks out. Let her try stuff on in the dressing room and pick out something she feels comfortable in,” says Dita. She also explains why buying lingerie for your girl without her is not the best idea:

f you wanted to buy something without her, you take her the first time to the lingerie store and you get a feel for what she likes and maybe go back to that same place and talk to a sales person that remembers because, its not going to do you any good to buy something that you like, because she’s going to feel sexy when she feels good and confident and is wearing something that she likes, and then everybody wins. Because everyone knows that when you’re happy and confident, that’s when you’re at your most sexy. So it doesn’t do you any good that she doesn’t feel confident, it will just backfire. Some girls like thongs, some girls like bikinis and some girls like bras and some don’t want to wear bras at all. So I think, you just have to know your victim.”
“Know your victim”, wow, We wouldn’t look at it that way… Dita clarifies, “Know the target (Laughs).”

As she's already famous for frolicking in martini glasses, it's no surprise that Dita Von Teese has struck up a partnership with martini glass-filler Cointreau. In town to promote the brand, the burlesque star—in Louboutins, bien sur, and a gold frock by Tiia Vanhatapio—took some time off yesterday to chat with Style.com. We caught up with Von Teese at the Ritz, where we gave her our own fashion-friendly version of the Proust Questionnaire. Here's what she had to say.

What is the worst fashion faux pas?
Trying to be of the moment.

What is your favorite film? "Cover Girl," with Rita Hayworth.

What is your most treasured possession? My house, not the house itself, but everything I have in it and the feeling of comfort I have when I’m surrounded by my pets and the things I love.

What is your most marked characteristic? I believe in fairness and in seeing both sides.

What do you most value in your friends? That they see me for me.

What is your favorite city? Paris.

What do you like the most about your appearance? That it is created by me. When people admire me they admire me for what I have painted and styled.

What do you dislike most about your appearance? A lady should never point out her flaws.

What is the quality you most like in a man? Honesty.

What is the quality you most like in a woman? Eccentricity.

Who is your hero? The burlesque performers of the thirties and forties, especially Gypsy Rose Lee, for finding ways to evolve.

What is the worst thing a woman can wear? Something highly stylized that took a long time to come up with that is supposed to look like you didn't try at all.

What is your greatest shortcoming? My shyness.

What is your favorite food? The île flottante (floating island) dessert at Brasserie Lippe in Paris.

What are your guilty pleasures? Shopping. Spending an extravagant amount of money on something.

I think she looks pretty cool there, somehow younger looking-and I'm not her biggest fan.She wore fantastic outfits in the latest concert pictures I have seen. She's bold and I do appreciate that.

unfortunately that's the only pic they have up
and yes those are definitely ruffled briefs.
i have a ridiculous amount of these in my closet. whats wrong with me?

btw its cool to see her all burlesque looking again.

haha, nothing wrong with them at all, I think they're ace. wher'd you get yours? :flower:

Dita can be seen in the next episode of Germany's Next Topmodel (next Thursday).^_^

I cant beleive I havent been on her thread since the met gala, she looked simply stunning in Marchesa:heart::heart:, she looks as natural in that dress as some do in sweatsuits!:p

The most beautiful thing about Dita, hands down, is that she always writes her fans back no matter how "successful" she becomes. What other person in magazines hob-knobbing with stars is willing to give advice and cheer up a gloomy fan routinely? None other than Dita. This is the reason why her fanbase is so loyal to her.

Sadly, her generosity of time and accessibility is a rare quality among others.

I absolutely positively agree with you! She has always responded to my emails.

ooohh, she killed it at her guest appearance at germany's next top model  I've to admit I also felt embarrassed for her, dita exuded so much class and sophisticiation in comparison to the contestants, she looked every inch the personified eroticism. well, as it was her own decision to make an appearance...who am I to judge. it was also very interesting to be able to "compare" her body to those of the model contestants - she definitely withstood her competition, she's really petite but perfectly proportioned.

i love how she has kind of a seperate persona..she reminds me of vick beckhams for some reasonn
