Do You Ever Feel Guilty Buying Clothes ?

In the past few months I have purchased some truly amazing clothing pieces. I have also spent a lot of money while doing it. And even though the clothing is very amazing, I always have this feeling of guilt whenever I spend money on myself.

Take today for instance, I ordered a beautiful jacket from the UK and yet I literally feel sick to my stomach for doing so and spending so much money. I think of all those people who have nothing and yet I drop $300 on a pair of jeans or a shirt like money grows on trees.

Anyone else ever experience this...or am I just some kind of freak?

HELP

sorry...but i had to move this to the right area... :flower:

Yes I do, except I'm still at the stage where spending over 150$ is shocking to me. I will spend money on an item if I really really like it but over $200 for one article of clothing at this point in my life is beyond ridiculous. So anyways, I take advantage of sales/discounts/thrift stores whenever I get the chance so as not to induce too many guilt-trips.

I buy all my clothes reasonable price or during my favorite four letter word SALE. If theres guilt in buying clothes than you shouldn't be buying it in the first place. Plus I donote money to homeless shelters and volunteer my time at Salvation Army helping the needy so I eased out the good part while helping people :flower:

the only thing I feel kinda bad about is when people are like dang where you get the money to buy that stuff. I have no guilt when I buy designer pieces, but I work my butt off to get the money for that stuff, I just don't want to have that yuppy image.

I don't feel guilty if I actually wear them, or if they make me feel/look good, or if I like seeing them in my closet, or if I think that they'll come in handy for some special occasion.

Tons of people experience this. If you want to alleviate the guilt you're describing, donate things or time to charity. Easy as pie...

 i always go shopping with a big chanel or non designer hot bag... that way i can buy stuff and nobody thinks i have... last time i spent $1000 in ralph lauren i shoved everything in my bag and my brother didnt notice...

i think they should have a programme to help bulimic shoppers... they have alcohol annons....

i buy stuff hide in my wardrobe pull it out and say wow i forgot this was in her... i bought this ages ago...

we all feel guilty... but remember

guilt is in the eyes of the beholder... so if u convince yourself its not wrong u will believe it in time

what's a bulimic shopper?

i also feel guilty...don't know why either. i feel guilty when i buy a burger sometimes. i think i have a guilt complex, except when someone pisses me off.

Never in the act.

Sometimes afterwards.

I wouldn't call it guilt though, just a realisation that I shouldn't have bought it, or I won't ever wear it etc.

the word you are looking for is 'shopaholic'...and they do have treatment for that ...actually...
:flower:

and i think what hed kandi is describing is known as buyer's remorse...a common phenomenon...
i think if you are feeling very bad about buying stuff then you probably shouldn't be buying it and deep down you know it...

maybe it's not in your current budget or maybe it's just frivolous or maybe it's very passe and will be out of style very soon...whatever the reason... that is your conscience speaking to you and it's usually a good idea to listen to that little voice... trust your instiincts...and if it doesn't make you feel good...then...really, what's the point...?... :flower:

happy shopping... B) :innocent:
