Doc Martens revival

Thank you luckyme and laudia, appreciate that

Being in Europe the ones I want are costing about 1200 dollars - just can't justify it really. The post, tax and duties are about half the price of the boots!

oh man i had 3 pairs of doc martens back in the uniform days...oxfords and t-strap maryjanes. i wore them everyday to school, they were so comfortable. why do i torture myself in heels nowadays?!
and i got those 14 hole boots during my "punk" phase in middle school lol. time to break them out again!

Bit the bullet and got the 10 eyelet Yohji in Black. They are super comfortable. Getting a bit nervous now about whether they're age appropriate. I'm 32 and I remember the last time around.

I had a pair of DM shoes that had an exaggerated steel toe - it was extra round and bubbly (not like the typical ones that are available now). The toe part was so round and bubbly that they sort of looked like clown shoes. I loved them and wore them until the soles were completely worn away. I wish I can find another pair like them, but alas I do not know the name or style number (and I can't find any photos of them either). If anybody knows what I'm talking about, please let me know. I would be so grateful...

^I have a pair of DM steel toes from way back...is that what you are referring to? The tip is really hard and feels like it is reinforced with steel, just like the name suggests.
If that's the one, just google "Doc martens steel toe" or do the same search on eBay and you will get a list of results.
Good luck! :)

I had the bubble toe in oxblood. There are a number, or at least there were, loads of doc styles with steel toes primarily because they are work boots. The bubble toe were exaggerated and as the OP desribes - clownish. As far as I can see they are not in production anymore. I purchased mine in 1991. If I see them anywhere I will get back to you

Thanks so much Sarachryan and PrincessImp...I do hope that they bring the bubble toe style back. It was so cute and there hasn't been another pair of shoes that made me feel so truly me.

i'm very glad these are making a comeback, was a bit too young the first time around. i picked up a pair of these babes about a month or so ago. they've worn and brightened a little, really beautiful color! i'm new, by the way, and excited to be here! maybe i'll post some photos of the boots in action when i'm feeling up to it..

All the girls in my ballet school that I looked up to wore Docs, I was unbelievably jealous of anyone that had those shoes. They were so cool and pretty and hung out afterwards in babydoll dresses and docs to smoke. One girl put a bandaid on the toe of hers and when my teacher asked why she did that she just shrugged; it was probably the most exciting fashion decision I encountered at 12, lol. I remember when they probably got too mainstream and they were in my Macy's in 15 different patterns and colors.

I think they're really great; although I couldn't stand Doc Martens other shoes like the clogs and sandals.

I lived in Russia in the 90s and somehow I associate them with those skinhead (rascist) groups. Doc Martens were like their uniform. So surely I am not a fan...

the feb issue of nylon has the patent docs featured!

there was a shoot where everyone had Docs on in i-D a few months ago.

also, lollicandy, i still like the whole docks and cute dresses look on some girls.

i've been meaning to post these...from I-D, sorry the scans are kinda crappy...
