Ed Westwick

As much as I love the whole Chuck Bass thing, the English accent is much hotter! Took me a while to warm to him, but other than the girls fashion, he's the best thing about Gossip Girl these days

I love Ed Westwick, but I think his acting sucks on GG (well, this season, it does). And his wardrobe this season is either boring or garishly bizarre. (Dan and Blair are the only reason I'm tuning into GG these days.)

I agree with you about the English accent though! His natural voice is so heavenly and far more fun to listen to than the Batman whisper he employs on GG.

Munich for Chalet Girl on March 4, 2011...Pretty cool, a 'Rooster Tie' which was a square bottom knit tie that was very prep and hip in the 1950s and 60s... B)

The tie seems overlong, but other than that, I definitely prefer this premiere look to his British one. But I think Ed looks more sleek when he wears black, so I'm probably being biased in my preference.

That tie is just fabulous!

that tie is indeed amazing.

Boomer - judging by his choice of suits for this press tour, what do you think - is Daman styling him? it looks like he is, no?

^ I don't know...not bad I guess... he seems to have simplified things a bit, white shirts with barrel cuffs and so on...I don't care for the high button stance of his jackets; he isn't a tall guy so a two button jacket with a lower button would give a longer lapel line and a more vertical look and draw the eye up and down- a lot of these nipped in skinny jackets look like a kid in his first suit on the way to church to me... Ralph Lauren is a little guy (although very fit) and his suits are perfect on him- you would never know from photos how small he is; making his tailoring work for him...guess he really "gets it"!!

^ Fits right in...I thought the suit might be either Prada or Gucci... ;)
I bet those 'Rooster' ties will make a comeback now! :woot: They are cool, but they stretch when you try to tie them, so getting the right knot and length of the front piece (blade) can take several tries...

'Rooster' ties look cool and have a cool name. Thanks, Boomer, for teaching me something new again. ;)

No problem, dajrekshn, I just came across that info! :D

Is that why it's longer at the bottom? Cause Ed usually doesn't wear overlong ties (unless Eric Damen puts him in one).

I hope they do make a comeback because there are ton of male stars I think would look good in them.

Curious: but what type of knot usually works best for a rooster tie? To prevent it from stretching too much? (Not that I'm knowledgable about knots--the only one I'm familiar with is the Windsor knot and even that, I don't recognize all the time.)

^ It really depends on the tie- facing, material and weave....An open (rough) weave in a silk, say, would stretch like crazy; if it was a wool and had a nice lining- totally different....I have a tight weave silk one from Turnbull & Asser in London, and it ties up perfectly with a half windsor knot which has a little more body to it; generally these ties would call for a four in hand knot (so named from the knot that coachmen used to tie the reins together for a four horse coach: hence you had 'four-in-hand!!);) Understand all knit ties are casual wear; you do not wear them with a dressy pinstripe suit, it is much better suited to a sport coat or under a v neck sweater...And as always- the shirt and collar need to compliment the tie- generally a point or button down collar in cotton, never a jacquard silk shirt with french cuffs! :flower:
