Some new Edie pics from Magnum Photos but unfortunately I think you have to pay to see the high quality without watermarks:

... I see nothing pretty in her, really. She looks like a junkie... which she actually was... I don't like her eyebrows, her nose, she also doesn't have cheekbones. What's so special about her,hm?
I came here because I was curious, I've just seen the movie and wanted to see who she was, how she looked.

ok, her lip and smile are ok. But she's still nothing than a sweet, average girl!

well, i think she's absolutely gorgeous. she had such a bright, radiant smile and you can see much more than just a plain look behind her eyes. in my opinion her beauty is all about this combo: the smile, the eyes and the petit body that made her look even more fragile. and yes, she was a junkie - but it was part of her troubled personality and again, in my opinion, it just makes her even more interesting :flower:

I think I prefer more classical beauties:wink: But Edie was one of a kind, that's for sure.

Physically, I don't think Edie was very special, though she did possess a radiance that isn't always captured by the still camera. She was certainly beautiful (easier to see with long hair) but not in a way that set her apart from many people. What's special about Edie is that she was a one of a kind character, and that's probably what Factory Girl failed the most in recreating. To me, it was her combination of childlike mentality, lack of boundaries, psychological/emotional extremes, effervescence and charisma that made her so fascinating.

As for looking like a junkie, I find that strange because Edie has always looked so clean and angelic to me. You must be referring to her thinness.

^I agree completely.
I must be overly attached to her because I'm can't believe people don't automatically see what's so 'special' about her!

Well said PinkGoddess about Edie's character. And perhaps, given the name of this website, we would be remiss not to mention Edie's incredible and trend-setting style. She really was a trailblazer with regards to fashion. She had an artist's sensibility too. It is not all about looks for me anyhow; it is about her life, the entire complex screwed up radiant package that in some ways encapsulates the rise and fall of 60s countercultre. Read Stein's biography. Then, maybe, you will understand.

Do NOT go by "Factory Girl"; it is abysmal compared to the book.

Oh, and thanks too Pink Goddess for posting all of those new shots, the pool party = utter debauchery.

This is interesting

from ebay:

Here is an original script by the amazing late Chuck Wein. He was horribly depicted in the Edie film by the late Hickenlooper and had been trying to get this film off the ground for many years when he passed. This 129 page script tells the real story of Andy Warhol, Chuck and Edie Sedgwick. Chuck directed the original Ciao MAnhattan and lost control over it. Chcuk gave this script to Miss Mercy of the GTOs (Our old Zappa all-girl band) and she is selling it now. The script is signed by Chuck to Mercy for her 50th birthday.../QUOTE]

I want to read that whole script! It's probably too expensive though. I wonder if anyone will ever make a movie out of it.

An interview with Nico in 1986...

FF: Did Bob Dylan do satirical songs about Edie Sedgwick?
Nico: Yes, in “Leopard Skin Pill Box Hat.”
FF: What was she like?
Nico: I thought she was charming – very graceful, very sad person.
FF: I saw the film Ciao Manhattan and in Warhol days, she was really a beauty, and then she forsook that whole scene and even got silicone implants. She had gigantic breasts!
Nico: Oh my God! She did?! No!
FF: Yes!
Nico: She had silicone breasts in Ciao Manhattan?
FF: they talked about it in Edie. Before she got married when she was out in California, she got it done because her father had teased her about being small busted when she was younger. But she did have silicone. It was strange.
Nico: Very! I would never do that.
FF: No!
Nico: Was it visible?
FF: Oh, God – they were huge and she was bare breasted through a lot of the film. It looked unnatural.
Nico: Poor Edie! She wasn’t trendy anymore, was she?
FF: Exactly.
Nico: I really liked her in Andy’s films when she had short hair. She was really beautiful. Andy should invent a new series. He used to do the “wanted” series with the criminals from front and profile. “The Electric Chair,” I really liked those.
