She was allegedly close with Bob Dylan's friend(manager? Can never remember) who was called Bob Neuwirth. But never with Bob Dylan.

However, Dylan did KNOW Edie. And probably heard countless things about her. That to me explains the songs. You write about what you know. And Dylan was probably fascinated by her, just like we and thousands of other people are.

That's true, plus when you come across a personality as strong as Edie's, you tend to feel much closer to the person than you are, which leads you to speculate a lot about their nature.

I remember reading somewhere that you can only truly appreciate something if you've experienced the total opposite, I think that explains the fascination that people like Andy and Bob had toward Edie. Andy especially, because he in many ways wanted to emulate what Edie had.

That's not alleged, it's true. I think that's why people think she was in love with Bob Dylan because she was in love with Bob Neuwirth. People must have gotten the two confused.

I would've loved to have met her. She just seemed like the type of girl you could have a great time with, but also quite intelligent and artistically talented; slightly different from the overrated socialites of the 21st century. Oh, I wonder what it was like to walk through her closet....

I wish people that knew Edie would tell us more about her, but some of them are really old or even dead..:( I'm so glad I managed to meet Malanga

I agree, it's such a shame because they probably have tonnes of insightful stories and observations that we'll never get to hear. And when the opportunity does arise, it's usually just those with dollar signs in their eyes who come forward. When it comes to most stars, those who knew them the closest are not famous and care too much for their memories to let people with hidden agendas exploit them.

Those are really beautiful, PinkGoddess. Thank you lots for sharing!

I know..one of the books I have on Edie is by this guy who IMO seems like he didn't even like her..

Are you referring to Nat Finkelstein, Lookana? I just heard he died two weeks ago.

You're very welcome, Anina:flower:

Thank you for those Avatar ones. I might have to steal a few haha.
I'm currently reading 'Edie: American Girl'. I'm only finding out everything about her family at the moment. The beginning of it is tough! lol.
Has anyone else read it?

Yeah I've read it a long time ago. I also thought it was a big hard to get into from the start, but it's a very interesting book IMO :)

Yeah I've found it a bit tricky, with all the stuff about her ancestors. But I'm getting into her "teen years" now so it's certainly getting easier.
She's SO interesting. I really wish I knew what it was about her I liked so much!

If it weren't for the family tree in the back i would have been completely confused about her family! I was constantly flipping back and forth to see how Edie was related to the people they were talking about.
