Edition 24 by Yves Saint Laurent

I think it's "capsule" in Balenciaga which is one season behind the actual collection but with diff. colour and better priced. It's not really this concept but kind of:-)
Please correct me if I am wrong.

There are 4 capsule collections each organized under the themes of pants, knits, silks, and leather respectively.

from the website:

The "Balenciaga.Pants" series is part of the women's ready-to-wear collection and presents emblematic pant designs from Nicholas Ghesquire's bestseller collections for Balenciaga, researched for new fabrics and cuts.

Each piece will carry a special label and tag to identfy this series

So this is essentially what YSL is doing

Balenciaga also does updated reissues from the OLD archives.

I find Edition 24 another title from wwd is

"YSL to Unveil Lower-Priced Brand, Edition 24"

So that its a brand by YSL, not a series by YSL, right ?

Dy definition, it's very different between series and brand.

Nice idea. I like the style, it's unfortunatly still quite expensive, but hey, on sale the pieces will be really cheap... hehe...
Love the coat on the first picture.

i don't know what you mean by series- i imagine this is a languagge issue..

but it is this..

a permanent, season-less and sharply priced collection of YSL essentials dubbed "Edition 24" that helps fulfill the brand's promise of not only inciting desire, but serving women with a complete wardrobe for modern life.
they say it has been 'dubbed' edition 24...so that is what they are calling it...

i imagin that by series = collection (cruise, prefall, edition 24 for instance)

and brand = a new label like "marc by marc jacobs" or even "miu miu", or "see by chloe"

I found this about 24 edition in hintmag.com:

Don't you hate it when you ooze out of baggage claim all wrinkly and stanky after a red-eye flight, only to have the paparazzi snap away at your every unsightly faux pas? Stefano Pilati has you covered. This month, the Yves Saint Laurent designer debuts his Edition 24 line of unfussy, lower-priced, wrinkle-resistant pieces intended for travel par avion. (No word yet on its resistance to turbulent cabernet.) The collection—or "style passport," as Pilati cutely calls it—consists of two dozen essential looks, a grab-as-you-go mix of coats, dresses, skirts, swimsuits, pants and, in an ode to one of the house's iconic styles, safari jackets. It also comes with a line of luggage based around the Downtown it-tote. There's still no better way to fly than first class, we think, but we're thrilled at the idea of emerging from a plane looking a little less destroyed. At Yves Saint Laurent boutiques worldwide.

how these european houses suffer because of the monetary policies of the governments host them. as long as the dollar remains this week and the euro and pound this strong, they're going to have to continue to have to brainstorm on ways to find cheaper offerings for our market. while i think this lower price-pointed line may have european appeal, it's still expensive here in america. a working twentysomething or thirtysomething's not going to dole out a thousand bucks on a non-signature item in this country. they'll save that money for a flirty oscar de la renta dress or a smart donna karan collection separates. hell, for a thousand bucks you could get proenza schouler on sale.

The downtown luggage is so cool! But my main question is: how much less expensive is this line compared to the mainline? If a tee shirt starts at $300, that's still very expensive. But I'm surprised to hear it's mostly under $1,300.

honestly, the three hundred dollar tee shirt -- much like the four hundred dollar pilgrim belt and oh-so-delicious two hundred dollar jewelry -- make more sense to clinch incremental revenues than this collection. perhaps pilati should take a lesson from his predecessor and develop a couple of best selling fragrances and find another must-have bag at a price point american girls can afford.

This "par avion" stuff is much more interesting than a younger, cheaper line, IMO.
