I would guess it's just easier to manage when she straightens it. In the humidity curls like her can get very frizzy.

Emmy's natural hair appears to be very tight ringlets. I'm inclined to believe her red carpet waves/curls are the result of curlers, curling irons. Perhaps it's faster (and easier to manage) to just pull it straight.
That being said, I think the curls give her a softer, more youthful look - I miss them, too.
Mind you, with that gorgeous dress, who's really looking at her hair?

The dress is gorgeous but seriously, is that her boyfriend? She is pretty, he is not so pretty.
Nanda; agree, I still think she should have done way more with her classical trainings. I would want to see her sing next to Mirusia Louwerse and the Platin Tenors at André Rieu. Just out of interest of how she will do.

I assume that all the recent events that she's going to is to help promote "Dare" and get the word out. Pretty much any time she goes to events is when a project of hers is due to come soon or came out recently.
That being said, I like her outfit at the hotel opening. Sexy without being vulgar.

Actually after The Day After Tomorrow she did The Phantom of the Opera which earned her a Golden Globe nomination a Broacast Film Critics Award and a National Board of Review award. I think as far as popular opinion goes that was the peak of her career. She's done several films since then but they haven't done well. Her debut album "Inside Out" had some modest success though. She's been working on a follow up album this past year and this summer she toured with Counting Crows (that's where she met Adam).
I think that the reason she's been out at a lot of events is that her new movie, Dare is opening next month. www.darethemovie.com It was a hit at Sundance but since it's an indie the promotion budget probably isn't huge and she probably wants to bring some attention to it.
