Exercises to tone the inner thighs?

is that squeeze lengthwise? i mean have the dumbbell horizontal between the knees?

Wow I should take this tip since my inner thighs have actually touched now but it didnt use to before....><"

I think the only way to reduce the size of your inner thighs is lose weight. You can't exactly remove fat in specfic areas of your body.

you can't? lol thats depressing...it seems possible..Actually for me i had some cellulite...yuck. I ve been using Alpha cell from the drug store. Its clearing it up but I think i have to face the truth...the best way is to go for a nice jog !

I have found nothing better for ME than fast walking and pilates. I emphasize the word "me" because it's different for everyone. My body shape has responded well to this but never ever got the results when I used to run an hour a day and do weight training (which kept all my measurements the same, just gave me more muscle tone.) It's always such a mystery to find the perfect combo that works! good luck :)

I danced ballet for over 10 years, and my legs are slightly athletic, but not to a bulky extent, and much of it is generic in the first place. I've always had defined legs, even when I was a little, little kid  But if you look at professional dancers, there legs are very, very defined and very, very sleek.
If you use the correct muscles when using ballet steps to tone and define, you're legs will be sleeker. That means using your hamstrings and inner thighs and trying to relax your outter thighs. It's quite a difficult concept, but if you're not careful, and grip your quads, you'll bulk. If you are going to try this, make sure to focus on using your inner thighs, primarily.

Agreed. I was terrified that my thighs would bulk up when I started adult ballet and talked to my teacher about it. She assured me that it boils down to using the correct muscles and so I check with her every now and then whether I'm using the right ones. I've been doing ballet for about 1/2 year now and my thighs are definitely more toned ...actually my legs.

i guess it varies from person to person, my friend has been doing dance and shes noticed her thighs have bulked up quite a lot, but i think this is only because she does it vigourously, and for long periods of time. long distance running has helped me a lot, it tones your over all body and makes you fitter, i always go running in the morning before breakfast because i think (correct me if im wrong) that when your body has run out of kilojoules, it runs on your fat, so it burns the fat from areas of your body, rather than what you just ate. squats might help too, but you could try kickboxing or yoga too

I definitely recommend pilates for anything like this, even just taking a floor class one or two times a week makes the most amazing difference, and it's great for people with injuries, sore ankles/knees etc who dont want to run because there is no impact at all.

I forgot to add that it's also important to stretch out the muscles after dance or any other exercise class. Counter stretching lengthens the muscles and prevents them from bulking up.

the best thing to do is HOW you do your exercises. for example, when you're on the leg extension or calf raise machine at the gym, point your toes inward to work the inside thigh--or point them outward to work the muscles on your outside thigh better. hope this helps--I'm taking a class right now on weightlifting techniques, and this was one of the first things our trainer whent over.

This was the exact thread I was looking for... I'm on the Cross Country and Track team at my school but only my legs have gotten muscular. Our workouts don't seem to help my thighs, which is a problem since even though I'm skinny, I have thick legs.

I honestly don't know what to try.

The only exercise I do is running, a few times a week. Sometimes I go through periods where I eat heaps and dont run at all, and my thighs start touching but thankfully the first places I lose fat from are my inner thighs. So I just reccomend changing your diet a bit or at least just doing some exercise.

Anyways, I agree with the prior suggestion of the inner thigh machine at the gym. Simply put, it is the BEST inner thigh exercise (how else can you squeeze 70lbs between your thighs?!) and it really really works. Of course, you also have to do cardio !

WHAT?! who loses weight in their inner thighs first?!!! lol you are blessed dear.....i tried jogging.. but i feel like im just building muscle instead of losing there

^ I dont really count it as a blessing... I wish I'd lose off my stomach or hips first..

aww okay sorry lol!! I just have such a hard time shrinking my thighs because last year i spent so much time doing lunges and sqwats and perfectly toned my legs and now i have major muscle that looks real bulky.

what are the best exercises that you dont need a gym for because i dont have a membership yet

I used to do a lot of inline skating
(every day a couple of hours, I loved it) and my legs were just fine
but I've been sitting at home for months now (only go to school, don't do sports at all)
and my inner thighs are HUGE now..maybe my muscles turned into fat or something because the rest of my body is still quite in shape
anyway it looks horrible!

I've had several free lessons now, to search for some sport which appeals to me and I'm going to do some cardio and power yoga

I hope it will help..

I run a lot, I have only noticed very toned outter thigh, buttlocks and calves; inner thighs are still flabby, just my experience. I am going to add some other workouts to balance them out.

I have one of those springy things you squeeze between your thighs. You can use them for your arms too. I don't knoy are called.
