MILAN, Italy, June 12 /PRNewswire/ --Elizabeth Arden, Inc., a global prestige beauty products company, and Alberta Ferretti announced today that iconic supermodel Claudia Schiffer will represent Alberta Ferretti's first signature fragrance in its advertising campaign. In January of 2008, Elizabeth Arden entered into an exclusive long-term global licensing agreement with AEFFE S.p.A. for the development, marketing and distribution of fragrance, cosmetics, and skincare products with Alberta Ferretti. The fragrance and the campaign will debut in Europe in the Fall of 2009.
"It's an honour to be chosen as the face of the Alberta Ferretti fragrance. Alberta and I have worked together for many years and it's wonderful to be able to collaborate on this exciting project together. Alberta's designs always embody femininity and elegance which are reflected in this fragrance," stated Claudia Schiffer.
Ron Rolleston, Executive Vice President, Global Marketing at Elizabeth Arden, collaborated with Alberta Ferretti to create the new fragrance and said, "We believe we have created a fragrance that expresses the brand values which emanate from Alberta's rich creative experience. It was important that we stay true to those values in selecting a face for this sophisticated new fragrance. In Claudia Schiffer we have found an ideal visual representation for the brand."
With her creative talent and understanding of women, Alberta Ferretti created a fragrance inspired by the sensuality of a woman. From the conception of the fragrance through its development, Alberta Ferretti was inspired by the woman she imagined would wear it -- one who is modern, has style and sophistication, and most importantly, identity. This is the reason why she chose Claudia Schiffer as the face for the advertising campaign. "Claudia is a beauty icon and a woman whose sensuality comes from her unique and inimitable personality. Possessing awareness and strength, she expresses the qualities that every woman desires. Claudia represents the woman for whom my fashion and fragrance is designed," stated Alberta Ferretti.
Creative Director, Alex White collaborated with Alberta Ferretti on the concept for the campaign, which was shot by photographers Mert & Marcus.

Iris got Valentino?! Wow, the label has changed like crazy. How did Valentino go from Hilary Rhoda, Gemma Ward and Daria Werbowey to Iris Strubegger?

^Really? Well let's see, the house has gone through three changes in designers since Gemma and Hilary were relevant enough to front the brand. Mert and Marcus are the photographers for this and they certainly have championed Iris throughout her career. Yes, it's not one of your favorites, but I don't see why it's such an illogical choice.

^ Well I think Squizree said that because Iris doesn't fit the Valentino aesthetic, at least not the Garavani-era one.

^Well it seems as though the new Valentino designers are "trying" to stay as true to the original Valentinos design aesthetic as possible. I don't get why they would chose a model who is just so un-Valentino like Iris, she wasn't right for Givenchy imo either and I actually like Iris. But, does anyone know how much influence a photographer has on what models appear in a campaign? It seems like alot.

The issue is not whether Iris is my fvaourite or not, in fact I think she's been really cool lately. I loved her to death in the Givenchy ads because she suits Givenchy's severe Gothic aesthetic a lot. The issue is the change in Valentino's aesthetic direction. Like Thanatos said the new designers are steering Valentino into this new dull, uninspired and random direction that barely represents any part of Garavani's Valentino. Going from Hilary, Gemma and Daria to Iris is one of the ways that the label has steered away. Thats the point Im trying to get to.
IM sure that even Iris' most loyal fans will agree that she's not the most ideal model for Valentino.

^Totally agree with Squizree about Iris fronting Valentino.
Mr Garavani has always been very particular with models, even at his runway shows. This house used to have a very defined aesthetic, that being a classical beauty, chic, elegant, never racy or androgynous.
Of course this aesthetic has suffered lately thanks to the change in designers when it went from girlier under Facchinetti to non-exist under those two new blokes whose names I don't even care for.
Choosing Iris for that campaign, given the fact that she is one of the most coveted right now, is just a desperate try to stay relevant in my eyes.

Can anyone please tell me if Daria, Natasha Poly or Snejana have scored any campaign? And what are they? :)

Oh don't tell me that...the brand go from the quintessence of glamour and femininity(represented by those 3 stunning girls)to...Iris!The probably just casted her because she's very coveted at the moment and not surely because she matches the mood of the collection or the clothes(VERY hideous clothes)
That's why I guess the next star of the spring summer ads will be Monika Jagaciak

I'm not Iris' biggest fan, but even i will admit, the ad campaign is absolutely gorgeous, so dark and sooo feminine in a strange and mysterious way. It's Valentino in it's essence for me. It has made me look at her differently because the ads are so good.

Such a bad collection such as Valentino's needed someone much more powerful and dark and much more camera-wise to rescue the campaign. Someone like Sasha, Mariacarla or Natasha. Or all of the above :p

urgh, why are these images taking so long...all this speculation began RIGHT after the Paris shows...i can take no more suspense....i wanna see the big houses and i want to see them NOW.

I can't imagine having 3 of them together in a campaign! Dream casting. That would just be ahhhhh :lol:B)
