Factory Girl

Thank you for the link Liberty Bell. Wow that was REALLY painful to watch... it was ridiculously bad. They made Edie such a victim, and everyone else look like a total jerk (even Ingrid Superstar??). The film blames Andy for all of her problems, even her financials ones. They created such a mean-spirited, one-dimensional persona of him, which saddens me the most. And Hayden's character just really stupid.

Besides that... the costumes/hairstyling and the script were dreadful. This film is really poorly made and incredibly misinformed. It's like they didn't do any research at all.

lol at Nat Finkelstein at the end. this is the guy who said he thought Edie was just 'another dumb c*nt'. and was that Jonathan too? good going FG

I don´t even think I would have liked the movie if I didn´t know who Edie was. There is nothing interesting about it whatsoever.

I'm sooo glad I didn't pay for that! It was awful :yuk: So many inaccuracies and holes I don't even know where to start.

I showed one of my friends some clips from Factory Girl and she had no idea who Edie was and she said that the movie looked really cheap and bad. She had no opinion of Edie though because she didn't see the whole movie but from the looks of it i don't think she would even want to see it. THANK GOD!

Thank you for that link Liberty Bell! I haven't watched it yet but i will soon when i have time. I'm excited to see it even though i know it sucks.

Can someone upload the movie to another site? Those downloads aren't working for me, and I really want to see this movie for myself. I'd really appriciate it! :flower:

I would. but I don´t know how to split the movie up in parts, it would be quite impossible to upload the whole movie... but if anyone knows how to do that, I´ll be glad to.

I saw Factory Girl a few days ago and I waited to make a comment about it because I really wanted to form an opinion and not be mean! lol The movie really was utter crap. I have to admit, Sienna was really good as Edie. Her voice was dead on (from the small amount of footage I've seen of the real Edie) and her mannerisms were pretty close but the story! It's all over the place and I know artistic liberties are to taken but man! Now I can see why Bob Dylan was p*ssed. During the filming, the filmmakers said Hayden's character was a hybrid of Bob Dylan, Bob Neuwirth (Edie's actually bf & Dylan's right hand man) and I think Mick Jagger. Hayden's character was totally Dylan and no one else. All I kept thinking was if someone who didn't know anything about Edie saw this movie, they would be grossly misinformed.:( Anyhow, rant over! lol

Rant away, please please please! I am eager to hear how the community feels about this 'biopic'. Imagine how we feel! No warning, no courtesy, no kindness. This 'film' is not the makings of a finer world! I'm still working on my thoughts, impressions and the formulation of opinion, trying desperately to find the saving grace in this 'moving' picture, and failing utterly to find any social or spiritual redemption for its making. What is the point of artistry if it has no punchline, no intrinsic value, and no message? Why bother making a film about a free woman if her spark is not honored? What do I walk with after seeing it? Only the impoverishment of our generation and the utter denial of Edie's generation. Fortunately, with the underground release of the reels, we can all digest this without investing one red cent (bless the person who posted the reels) and we are free to consider the merits of Edie as seen through the Hollywood eyes that would never have been able to see her. Not something I would care to see again, that's for certain. A second viewing would not provide me with keener vision, broadened insight or further food for thought. Pity. It could have been so intriguing....

This movie is worse than i thought it would be! I can't believe how over embellished it was. I understand that when you are making a biopic you HAVE to change a FEW things and imply a FEW things but they took it WAY too far. I tried to keep track of all the inaccuracies while i watched it but there were too many. The scene where Edie and Andy are eating dinner with Edie's parents was the worst acting i've ever seen. Did these people not watch Beauty #2? That's not how the movie was, they make it look like she was raped. They left out so many meanful points in Edie's life that would have made a great movie and instead made up things to add allure i guess. It's really sick. And did they really need to show Sienna riding Hayden like that? That was just gross. This movie has no meaning, no purpose. They make it look like the only reason Edie did drugs was because Andy was mean to her. Which is bogus. RAWR! I want to punch these people in the face....

I just finished watching it. I have to say, I may be in the minority here, but I didn't think it was as bad as I thought it was going to be. I think Sienna did a wonderful job playing Edie! She was the best thing about the film. Her voice was dead-on and there were some parts where I kind of forgot I was watching Sienna and thought I was watching Edie. Her acting was just that believeable for me. I think Sienna should get some notice for her acting in this film because Edie was a hard person to play. Sienna was believeable because when I watched her, I didn't see her as "playing" Edie, but rather "being" Edie. She just had the personality and movement down so well.

But, I must say that this film was horribly inacurate, as so many others have said. But at least I can say that I am happy with at least one thing, and that is Sienna's portrayal of Edie, who I think would have been a very hard person to play.

Really? I thought Sienna was okay but still not as good as she could have been. Her voice was constantly changing, i thought the only time she sounded like Edie was in the Poor Little Rich Girl clip. She kept letting her accent break. I mean there are lots of British actors who play Americans and have no problems. Why couldn't she do it?

I don't think they made Edie playful enough. They just made her seem doomed and it made it hard to understand why people liked her. Probably because Sienna's nothing great and it's hard to understand why people like her, at least for me.

Yeah, I think they could have showed more playful, fun sides of Edie... I agree.

But do you really think the accent kept breaking? I really didn't notice. If you listen to some clips of Edie (mainly older ones, not from the "Ciao! Manhattan" era), she sounds just like that. Maybe it's just me? I don't think the accent was perfectly consistant, but there were some points when I was like "wow... that sounds just like Edie".

Omigd! I felt the same way about the sex scene! I'm not against them in general but that one seemed very gratuitous.

And i can't believe they made it seem like it was her first time. They also should have had Sienna leave her shirt on since Edie was ashamed of her breasts. And they never mentioned the boob job!

Another thing, why did they have to say she died of a drug overdose! That makes it seem like she got back on drugs when really she was perscribed barbituites. Since they leave out the final years of her life in California it makes it seem like Andy dumped her and she was sad and did drugs then died of an overdose.

It did. It made it seem like she slunk back to California and her years there were meaningless. I really didn't get the part when some guys were evidently filming her having sex. I mean, I guess that's what it was suppose to be. I know some druggies stole her furs and stuff, but why would they throw that in? Very good point about Edie being ashamed of her small chest. I don't recall her being topless in any Warhol films or anything. Another point that was just beyond wrong was the Chuck Wein thing. They made it seem like Chuck stayed at The Factory and grew tired of Edie. Paul Morrissey himself said Andy wasn't fooled by Chuck and only let him hang around because he was cute and he was with Edie. I could go on and on about how this movie was so inaccurate but I'd spend forever doing it! I have to admit, I loved the end credits when they spoke to the real Richie Berlin & Edie's brother Jonathan. I hope those interviews are extras on the dvd release.

A lot of people don't actually know the Edie S story--- for example- me. So it's really interesting what you guys have revealed about her actual life.

Question about Richie Berlin. Was she as big as her sister? I watched 'Pie in the Sky' not too long ago and while she wasn't as big as Brigid she definitely wasn't a waif. I have never seen Chelsea Girls so I have never gotten a very good look at her.

Edie was teeny tiny, and in Factory Girl Richie Berlin looks smaller than Edie

I watched it and it was in my opinion a very bad movie...the only decent acting abilty came from Guy Pearce.....the script could have been written by a 5 year old! Shame as Edie deserved much better.

There's a picture of Richie in the Edie book. She kind of looked like Debbie Harry! They didn't really show her much in Pie In The Sky, not that i remember. I don't think she was as skinny as Edie but she definetly wasn't as big as Brigid.

Another thing, the girl that played Brigid in the movie! Brigid was a big girl back then...how could they miss THAT? And they could have picked a more attractive person to play her. And Brigid was funny! They didn't have her say anything whitty at all. She was the loud, center of attention type. And the way they had her mention the c*ck book was so lame. Actually, the way they did almost everything was pretty lame...

Oh ok! I found the photo... Thanks :flower:

The actress that played Brigid didn't even resemble her. The way all of the other Factory members were portrayed was pretty lame. It was for the better that several people that were in the Factory during that period were left out of the film. The writers of this film did a very crappy job :boxer:
