What are the trends that look like being copied from the movie? I havnt seen it yet but I hear there are a lot of Balenciaga and Chanel outfits.

Probably going to have an influence..... A few production pics: all from movies.yahoo.com

Thanks interesting pictures.. Everything looks oversized which is a trend going into spring 09 and starting now...

Forgive me if I've never seen the series (and I haven't) on TV... stuff like this and "Desperate Housewives" can be true showcases of super-stylish fashion. "Access Hollywood" had a little segment on getting "Sex in the City" style on the cheap. What I've tended to notice is just how haute couture everything is. What actresses (and maybe some actors) have outfits most fashion-lovers dream of wearing. Of some of the past styles I've seen in print, I'm sorry... I don't dig gladiator sandals at all. The tops, skirts, dresses, and thereforth however... are all quite stylish. It will be interesting to see who'll be coming up with what kinds of styles from Sex in the City. Even interesting for all the knockoffs of these styles on the cheap.

Not the large flower thing again

I do love those little half gloves though.

I love the prada clutch she is sporting. I would love the dome bowler version.

I always think Carrie looks ridiculous, tbh...
Not stylish or inspiring...
She wears several cool/interesting pieces (that clutch! the gloves!),...
but I'd never style them the way Pat Field does...

The big flower Carrie is sporting is about a trend i spotted for spring 09 which is oversized.. Everything from prints, to shapes is oversized and "fun",
and i can see this translating into a strong story next summer.

yes well, with the cyclical nature of fashion and all, I mean carrie did big flower brooches etc. in what was it? 03? 04? I think in the movie there are going to be several nods to fashion influences of Carries past like the big flowers, nameplate necklace, etc. In the earlier seasons she had Fendi baguette, Fendi just re-released a similar style for the ten year anniversary. So we'll see. Whether or not fashion influences come from it i guess will depend how big the movie it. But I would never compare the style of SATC to that of desperate housewives which is very suburban to say the least

I agree.
Personally I don't really think she's sooo attractive as everyone says.
Eh, her style is alright, but it's really nothing special that i see.

That was just my 2 cents.
I'm probably going to get angry replies like :
CARRIE IS THE BESTTT!. haha.

I think the the most predominant thing that could come out of this is "individuality". I actually hate that word as it applies to fashion cause it's lost a lot of it's meaning lately, but I think a real effort to mix unexpected pieces in a more polished (as opposed to sloppy) way will be the major message.

I also think glamor will come out of this, and considering that we saw a return to this on the fall 08 runways, it can only grow. But it wont be fussy, it'll be more broken apart, like something very glitzy styled for day, or something really casual amped up for evening. It's kind of a cliche, but that's always what I thought of with the Sex and the City look, it's kind of a calculated randomness. Purposely wearing something over the top for everyday simply because it's fun to do.

That said, the flowers will definitely make a comeback. It's something anyone could adapt into their look (whether it's successful or not is a different story).

I totally agree. I think they will slip in some of the typical Carrie trends from the show.

I just hope they step it up, and bring us new and fresh looks like they did during the show.

I don't think anyone has really thought that SJP is attractive. To be quite honest most people have said that her face is not attractive but they like her style on the show.

Oh god all this stuff is so ridiculous. It's not even glamorous. It's just dumb.

I will reluctantly go to this (probably with my mom) just because I did like the series when it was out, and don't mind watching it when I'm in the right mood.

I do wonder what effect it will have on fashion, and at what age level- will young girls be inspired by the outfits or find them unappealing, or will it be women more along the age of the characters?

I want mini/half gloves like that- anyone seen them anywhere?

I have no idea why but I feel kind of 'bleh' about the upcoming movie and the fashion I've seen so far, the only good outfit is the one with the oversized prada clutch

but ofcourse because its SATC every magazine will probably praise the fashion and almost everyone around me will love it etc:rolleyes:

I can see how the look will translate into the age group of 30 and up as in my opinion its looks sophisticated but it would be interesting to see if the Movie look translates into the mass market which from where I am sitting I dont see how it would? would be curious to hear anyone"s opinion on this...

I think the flower is meant to be a Carrie-thing rather than a fashion-thing. Everyone has their own touches they like to add regardless of whether or not its in.
