fashion influences from the new "Sex and the City" movie

The only thing I've stated was that I don't think these styles could really influence those in the 18-25 age demographic since these are about stylish 30-somethings.

I have to disagree with this John, I'm in the 18-25 age demographic and I've definitely heard people my age talking about how much they love the fashion in the movie, want to go buy a similar pair of shoes, belt, etc. Although the women in the movie are in their 40's in most scenes they were dressed in much "younger" clothes than their age group would typically wear.

it's not that the movie will influence the designers...

but it will most likely influence the moviegoers...
in terms of what they will buy and wear...

and that is what defines a trend...
that a bunch of people all at once run out and buy it and wear it all at the same time...

just because it exists on the market...doesn't make it a trend..
it only becomes a trend once people start wearing it...
and believe you me...
people WILL start wearing whatever in hell that carrie character is wearing...
no mater how stupid or ugly it is...

:p
Great post and I totally agree.

I think gigantic earrings will be a hit, as well as gladiator stilettos for the masses. Otherwise, the movie was just a bunch of dresses and belts...

Everything in the movie was so over-styled it just loooked so dated... really cringe worthy at times..

I don't know if I've specified this yet, but I actually been thinking more about that dress Carrie wore with the huge 3D flower. The dress itself is beautiful. The big flower is overkill for me. Perhaps best to fashion shows than to put out in stores. Otherwise, it's still a beautiful dress.

Yeah..there was a ton of belts. I think every outfit they had on was belted.

Anybody knows the desagner or label of the green dress at the end of the movie (Carrie on the presentation of her book in the book shop9?

i think the gigantic flower kinda takes the attention away from the rest of the dress
and from carrie's face.
like if she was walking down the street all u would notice is that big *** flower and nothing else. which really is a shame because the dress itself is very nice

So we are in agreement, MiuMiuiluvit09. I think we can agree that while the dress is beautiful, the big flower deters some attention. Makes us want to look at the flower and not the dress. Either that, or pay more attention to the flower than the dress. It's not good when a garment is looked on by some object other than the garment itself. You want your details to be minimal whether it's certain prints or any 3D effects. Having a dress with such a huge flower is mostly meant for the runway, and I don't see having a dress with a huge flower for everyday wear (if you're rich) or for formal functions.

But again... still a beautiful dress.
