CBS takes viewers behind the scenes of the world’s largest celebration of fashion
in a primetime special: “FASHION’S NIGHT OUT 2010”. The special airs Tuesday, September 14, 10:00-11:00 PM ET/PT on the CBS Television Network and will be hosted by Emmy Award Winner Neil Patrick Harris.
Top fashion icons, the industry’s most promising new talent and a host of other boldface names from the worlds of movies, music and modeling are among those to be featured in this primetime special.
Fashion’s Night Out is an initiative to celebrate fashion and boost the retail industry. FNO was launched in 2009 by Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and NYC & Company in response to the global economic downturn. This year’s event kicks off with the largest public fashion show in New York City history at the new Lincoln Center, featuring approximately 200 models. Fashion’s Night Out will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010.
CBS cameras will capture months of intense planning and preparation, then track the night itself as it unfolds across New York City, the country and the globe. The show will focus on individuals working in the fashion industry for whom the vibrancy of the fashion business is a question of economic survival.
Host, Neil Patrick Harris, star of the CBS comedy series, "How I Met Your Mother," is equally successful on stage and screen, Neil Patrick Harris currently stars as Barney Stinson in the hit CBS television series, "How I Met Your Mother," a role which garnered him four consecutive Emmy Award nominations and two consecutive Golden Globe nominations. Harris is also set to receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the coming year.
Last year in New York City and other cities around the globe; designers, celebrities, movie stars, models and fashion editors staged exciting, one-of-a-kind events and performances in stores open after-hours to the public. Sarah Jessica Parker and Bette Midler sang standards with Oscar de la Renta; Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen tended bar at an uptown fashion emporium; and Sienna Miller hosted a party at a downtown boutique. Retailers saw a surge of new shoppers and increased sales, customers relished the street-party atmosphere, and the fashion industry experienced a much-needed lift.
