Favorite Collections S/S 10

Versace Versace Versace

I wish that by saying three times I would get a dress for free!!

i know i'll be investing in some jil sander come spring, but outside of that it's really too early to tell for me. i have to let some of these trends sort themselves out first.

FAVOURITES:

Versace - It's so impossible for me to NOT like Versace. Although I prefer Versace's mature, serious and commanding woman more I still loved Donatella's take on Versace's younger side. Super short dresses and mega sexy prints and cuts but still with that signature Versace Va-Va-Voom. The Versace woman has a great deal of attitude and I liked how Donatella showed that in its younger form.

Lanvin - Elbaz RARELY disappoints. He's a lifesaver. When all else fails in fashion week, Elbaz comes to the rescue. His clothes are one of a kind. So feminine and so powerful. They carry so much personality with them. The cuts and jewelry reeked of sophistication and modesty.

Givenchy - Tisci's tribal prints are unrivaled for me. I LOVE how he does them head-to-toe. It's the ultimate unconventional luxury.

A.F Vanderfrost - The collection not only had beauty, it had poetry. There was a beautiful story behind every piece of clothing. A story of peace and torture. It emitted a very poetic aura to me. I felt like there was such beautiful lyrics coming out of the whole show. One of the most inspiring collections I've seen this season.

Gianfranco Ferre - The pleats and the details in the folds and creases were so beautiful. There was a lot of power in the clothes. They had a certain strength to them, in that a woman could wear them and be transformed into this ultimate warrior of chicness. But at the same time, there was romance and vulnerability there.

Moschino Cheap & Chic - The CUTEST thing I've ever seen. That ducky dress was so adorable.

Temperly London - Surprisingly enough, this was really good. It was somewhat futuristic romance. Although it was somewhat unoriginal.

ThreeAsFour - The detailing in this collection is unbelievable. The spiral patterns and structures were beautiful and complex. There was a whole dramatic persona to go along with everything.

Versus - This was like Versace's younger, more flirtier sister. Comes complete with her own safety pins and mini thigh high slits!

DISAPPOINTMENTS:

Balenciaga - I felt like it had all been done before. Ghesquire is becoming somewhat of an attention wh*re I think. He's trying to please everyone at the same time maybe? I dont know, but it's been going on for a while. Very beautiful collection though.

Christian Dior - I am mourning at how terribly boring this collection was.

Yves Saint Laurent - Pure disappointment. Where is that undeniable femininity YSL stands for? Where is that female passion? Where is the GUSTO??? It's all gone! And all we're left with is a pile of rubble from Pilati. It's like the YSL woman had a sex change!

Valentino - Well it's not really disappointing since I EXPECTED those idiots to produce something boring. But seriously when I think of a Valentino-Spring, I think of an endless supply of colour and class. NONE of those were present in that collection. It was pretty at MOST but that's about it.

Emilio Pucci - I was getting excited that Dundas would produce something lively and a bit more risque, but I think he went overboard and everything came out trampy.

I would mention Ungaro, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and Chanel, but they were either heart-breaking, sappy or just plain old NASTY!

1. Lanvin
2. Chanel
3. McQueen- I'm really surprised I like Mcqueen so much this season usually I'm not really into his stuff but for some reason I really loved this collection.

VERSACE- always a number 1 for me, never disappoints. The dresses, the minis, the shoes, everything i would love to have.

New York- Victoria Beckham, Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan
London- Jenny Packham, Christopher Kane, Burberry
Milan- Versace, Versus, Gucci, Blumarine, Pucci
Paris- Lanvin, Dior, Stella McCartney, Miu Miu

Disappointments- Cavalli, Michael Kors, Nina Ricci, UNGARO.

Valentino, just because of the luxurious materials, the pearly colors and the elegant feminity of the collection ; Elie Saab, cause every dress took my breath away, especially flesh-coloured ones : the models looked like sirens in them ; Viktor & Rolf, for the extravagant and artistic cuts ; Calvin Klein, because of the pure, modern shapes.

I'll save Balmain and Isabel Marant too, cause i basically liked those collections ; however, i've been disappointed by Dior & Chanel.

NYC Best: altuzzura, phi, maria cornejo, calvin
WTF: marc, mulberry, anna sui, ralph

London best: burberry, saunders
WTF: luella, christopher kane

Milan best: botega, jil, versace (for what it is) missoni, Dolce (for what it is)
WTF: Prada, gucci

Paris best: mcqueen, dries, celine, balenciaga
WTF: Vuitton, miu miu, givenchy

also to mention - Ann demulemester, proenza, rick owens

I was thinking about this earlier.

I couldn't think of many that I could say were my favourite..

Karl Lagerfeld
Osman Yousefzada
Krystof Strozyna
Calvin Klein
being the favourites

Balenciaga
Chanel

being the ones I quite liked.

Another very disappointing recession-conscious season, unfortunately.

My favorite are Prada and Dolce&Gabbana in Milan, Chanel, Dior, McQueen and Hermes in Paris. I don't remember any collection from New York and London. Nothing special for me,
About dissapointing - Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs (as always), Margiela(speechless), Nina Ricci, Alexander Wang, Ungaro/
Balmain, Isabel Marant, Rick Owens, Haider Ackermann, Ann D, Givenchy - nothing new
