ROOM WITH A CLUE: Extending his range as a photographer and budding filmmaker, Karl Lagerfeld created a new campaign for Fendi that resembles stills from a movie — and a dramatic one at that. The ads, slated to break in August magazines, depict an “Italian couple in downtown New York,” according to Lagerfeld, who cast Polish beauty Anja Rubik and French model Baptiste Giabiconi as his protagonists. The mood is tense and enigmatic as the couple lounges around a retro apartment — actually, a set built by Stefan Beckman and suggestive of a hideout. Fendi said the campaign also would launch on its Web site and Facebook page.

Anja doesn't look like anja in the first shot, come to think of it, she dosen't look like herself in any of the shots!! but she looks good!
it's simple, plain and chic however it reminds me of an ed more than a campaign..

way too much make-up + way too much photoshop= doesn't even look like anja
--------->
me not a fan of the campaign, due to it making anja look like any day to day sears catalogue model

gee, karl has most definitely lost his touch; first he butchers chanel, next up, FENDI :(

Anja looks good. but this ads look like a editorial.

^I think once the logos are placed onto the images it'll lose that feel

Really love this campaign - pleasantly surprised at Karl's artistic direction this time around! Guess he enjoyed playing with more colors last season with Fendi...

It's so dull, like a test shot from a beginner.

What's left of this brand -_-

imo there haven't been a bit of substance or something worthy of mention since so many seasons about the clothes,

Hope they find a way to be relevant again.

Silvia should take the lead, her work for menswear was so incredible good, and her accesories are ok, Karl should step down before his overcontrol takes down the house :P

Sloppy editing though, I hope this gets better in print because Anja looks like a plastic mannequin in the shots (well most models seem to look this way in the ads so I guess it's a new photoshop-editing thread).

I love the 3rd shot where Anja rests one of her legs in the chair. Oh this makes me excited to see this in August Vogue.

This looks nice, but I prefer last season's ads.

This looks more like an ed than a campaign, but even as an ed it is not particularly good one. I am just not connecting with the "story." From the looks of it, the second picture is despair and the fourth picture is angst and conflict and my response is "ho-hum." The third picture is the only one that I am responding positively to; furthermore and more importantly I am not into the clothes. This makes me sad because last season's campaign is when I fell in love with Anja.

I really love the mood of this campaign.

beautiful pictures, beautiful styling.. and Anja looks great. But I just feel like this lacks that POP that campaigns are suppose to have. I can't quite explain it...

very editorial indeed.

I love the subtlety of it. The pallid colors and the styling are all great. It's almost like seeing a story unfold. Beautiful!

I'll reserve final judgment until I see the finalized versions. But I've gotta say that Anja looks good, and the clothes look great so I guess Karl fulfilled his mission.
However, it totally looks like an editorial so far. And considering I absolutely loved last season's campaign, I'm a little disappointed with this. Not bad though
