Fendi Spy Bag

does the hologram come in different colors? The reason I'm asking is that I called my SA if they had any spy satchels in and she said that they have one that is green with orange undertones (if you brush the leather one way you see orange) with green braided handles. I asked if it was a hologram but I don't think she knew what I was talking about. Has anyone seen this color IRL?

I've seen the "orange base-green top" leather on a Spy clutch (think it was the clutch) in Singapore in Dec 05. Also many posts back in this thread, sometime from August 2005 onwards (I think), a TFSer had posted a picture of the above-mentioned Spy.;) It is very similar to the metallic hologram or Fortuny leather except with the colours reversed.

^^...found the thread with the "orange base-green top" Spy as posted by cherie. Its thread #2245 on page 113.

Hi,
Yes, I conditioned it with the appleguard lotion first and then the spray. It had these 2 small spots on it when I got it.....they just got bigger with use. Now they're very noticeable. I could handle it if it was more uniform, but they stick out.....it's like 2 big round cigarette burns. It's hard to describe, but they look bad. I'm going to check out bluefly. Thanks!

omg, kelsbag- your spots got bigger because you used the conditioner, or your bag got spots despite conditioning the bag before wearing? i'm so sorry:cry:

having seen alot of older spies, i do think that dark brown spies have much less discoloration than cognac....don't know if that's a verifiable truth, but it's what i've noticed. also, my sis' dark brown started out pretty discolored, got alot better after conditioning, and then hasn't gone back...

No, no, ilovepositano....don't feel bad!! These were marks that were there when I got the bag. They just got bigger and uglier. I'm going to return the bag to NM. I don't think they should be this big after using it 2 times. I'm going to go to Fendi tonight and look at the dark brown. I love the cognac, but I'm not sure I can handle it if it gets too discolored. I try not to obsess too much over my bags, but when you pay that much, you expect it to last a little longer than a few days. I know whichever one I choose, I'm going to condition it again. :flower:

oh thanks for clarifying, i was so freaked that maybe i caused it...

i'm wishing you lots of luck. really hope NM rectifies the situation for you. it definitely shouldn't have spots after 2 uses. i even think my sis only ever got them b/c she lugged 3 sweet potatoes in her spy on an international flight.

I went to my first class at this fashion college, and we had to do a role play abt assertive communication. Anywayz, I had to play a customer in a retail store and this chick gave me her bag to pretend I was shopping, and I looked down and realised it was a Fendi Spy bag!! In black:woot: I was like, omg! I can't believe I'm carrying a designer bag, let alone a Fendi Spy. lol sorry, I was just really excited even though i was holding it for like 3 minutes.

Sweet potatoes?!! NM took it back....they didn't say a thing. I was very relieved!! Supposedly, they'll send it back to Fendi as a defect. I hope they wouldn't resell it. I went to Fendi and got the chocolate brown one. I hope I made the right decision! I'm so hung up on the cognac, but I know I'll freak if it starts getting discolored. Even the SA's in Fendi told me that it will. They said that it's the nature of the cognac leather to do that. Do you think the choc brown is a nice color or should I have stuck with another cognac? Gosh, I hate being so picky over a purse!!

Thank you!!! :flower: I'm still at the stage of staring at it in the mirror and wondering if I should've got it or the cognac......I hate when I do this. Do you think it's too dressy......would it look OK with jeans? It's a lot shinier than the cognac. The cognac was really dull. I don't know what I'd do without you girls.....my husband just told me he's sick of hearing about the spy.

HI I have got the satchel in chocolate brown and it is gorgeous it has never left my side ! I wear it with jeans , skirts everything. My husband agrees with yours especially when I tell him I might need another brother or sister for my satchel !! 'A bag is a bag' he says No idea !!!

shopping247...Thanks for the update!!!

Fortuny spy OR honey/rust Wisteria?!?!?!

Worried that the leather flowers of the Wisteria may look odd. The 1st time I saw the picture of it, my immediate reaction was "...what the heck is Fendi doing putting fish bones on the Spy...?" Not really keen on the colour too. But having said that, it does look quite gorgeous...Sigh....

I've been a stalker of this thread for a while now, but never posted. So here is my first post ^_^ I know there has already been heaps of discussion about which colour spy to get... but I am so confused right now! I have a Cognac spy on order, but won't receive it until end of March or in April - and that is just an estimate. Otherwise I may be able to get a Tobacco one by the end of Feb.

What do you recommend? Should I wait for the Cognac or is the Tobacco just as gorgeous? I wanted a colour that will go with almost everything and that will last forever, a classic. So would you wait for the Cognac or go for the Tobacco?

My problem is, I haven't seen a good picture of the Tobacco. I'm waiting to hear back from Fendi in Sydney if they can send me a picture. I'm in Perth, Australia where there are NO Fendi stores

yeah, the d. brown is totally versatile! you are so lucky, btw. i think it is the most sought after color in europe.

hee, yeah my husband calls my spy "our spy baby"

i would get tobacco. but even more important i would make sure they knew you wanted a recent one w/ good texture. they will always try to get rid of the most handled, least textured spies first if you don't insist.

Reducto, I totally agree with ilovepositano ^_^

When I was at Fendi to get my choc/dk brown Spy, the first one that the SA showed me was kinda smooth, not much texture at all  When I asked whether they have more in stock, the SA showed me 2 more Spy in the same color! One of them was beautifully textured! Needless to say, I chose that one! With 3 dk brown Spys side by side to compare...I must say the texture really add to the beauty of the bag! If you can, make sure to ask for one that's really textured! :flower:
