Fendi Spy Bag

i think once the cognac gets that problem, return it asap. save yourself the pain of seeing the bag peel off in bigger parts

Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with their cognac spy? I have a cognac one and I love it BUT I haven't used it yet. We have some snow here and I don't like taking out any of my good bags when it's wet. With all the problems I've read about here, I wonder if I should return my cognac spy and waitlist for the tobacco one. Any cognac lovers out there, pls speak up!

I bought my bag a week after a friend of mine got hers...she has yet to carry it:blush: ...I called her and told her about my issues with that particular color...Fendi told me that it happens to all congac spy bags:shock: ...read back through this thread...you'll see...it's a great color....if you don't have an issue with that weathered look...you'll probably like it:D ...it looks vintagey...I just couldn't pay that much for a bag and risk it looking like:cry: who knows what in 6 months:shock: .

The SA's at Fendi told me to get the chocolate/tobacco. They've seen older cognacs and they told me all cognacs will eventually lose their color. There's a gal on eBay selling a large one and she has great pics.....it has spots and marks of color loss all over it. I guess it all depends on what look you like....some people like that look, but it's not for me. I think it takes away from the beauty of the spy. Demarish is right.....you just won't know what it will look like months down the road. I'm really glad that I returned mine.

Fendi in Las Vegas...Forum Shops had a couple of tobacco spy bags left.

Could someone please describe the tobacco color to me? I also have the cognac and have yet to carry it. After this information on fading, I am considering changing colors. I have seen pics of the chocolate and honey, but I don't think I have ever seen the tobacco. Is it the same as chocolate? I know I want a brown spy, and I would love to know what's available. TIA!

Hi,
I could be wrong as I'm no spy expert, but I think the tobacco is the same as the chocolate brown. I just bought the chocolate brown Monday night (the SA's were calling it this) and my little card is not inside.....have to go and get it from Fendi......I really think it's officially called tobacco on the card.

I'm glad you looked it up! Pretty scary, huh?!! I'm with you.....as soon as I saw that, I was convinced that cognac is not for me. Even my hubby agreed when he saw the pics.....that's even scarier because usually he b*tches when I drag him to the mall to return something. He was telling me that I was getting rid of the cognac!!

Whats the item number? I'm curious.
I have a cognac spy. I use it all the time. Its not peeling but you can see where its rubbing off a bit on some edges. Mostly where the flap comes down and the harware hits. I would think thats a problem with all the dark colored ones since the leather is kind of thin.

Fendi Spy as a gift- Authentic?

Hi everyone,

I am new to this board and am really impressed by all of the knowledge you have on designer handbags. Like yourself I am ADDICTED to designer purses and I would like to ask all of you "Fendi Experts" if you think this Fendi Spy is real. I received it as a gift and where I live in Canada there are a limited amount of places (1 to be exact in my city) you can purchase these. I received it from a relative from overseas and I need to get it verified if it is authentic or not so I have to do that at a store (Holt Renfrew) but I thought I would get your opinions first. I didn't have the heart to ask my relative (it would be rude).

Anyways my digital camera is not taking very clear pics so I have tried to edit and lighten them up a bit. I can tell you that if it is a fake it is really GOOD one cause the leather is textured and bubbly and is really soft. The purse is also light as a feather and has all the markings (hologram, serial number etc.) The fendi plate inside is silver and the closing on the hidden compartment is embossed Fendi on silver.

All the hardware is gold/silver tone. I could not attach all of the pics of the serial tag etc. The serial code # is: 231-8BR511.RQ1-058 and the number on the hologram tag is A 550428. Anyways I would appreciate your feedback on whether you think it is real or not.

Thanks,

:D

The large size is kind if intrigueing for me. It actually doesn't look too huge.

I think it has more to do with the finish of the leather. The cognac leather is dull...the chocolate brown has some shine to it. It almost seems like the leather on the cognac doesn't have a seal on it and that's why it's rubbing off. I really couldn't believe the difference until I compared them at Fendi.

kiwigirl -- I'm pretty certain it's fake, the distressing looks off. Thats the best fake I've seen yet though.

kiwigirl - I'm going to agree with guessgirl. The distressing seems too goosebumpy at some parts and it looks more "cracked" than real Fendi Spy leather. A very good fake though!

She has it listed as NEW? There is no way a new bag is going to have that worn look to it. Here are photos of my cognac. I've used it almost daily for the last 8 months or so. The worst part is under the flap where the hardware hits. My bag is really shiny so I think its sealed. I just thought all the bags would eventually get worn like that. I love the cognac. It goes with everything. So no other colors have that problem??? I think it gives it a vintage kind of look.

kiwigirl-sorry, your bag looks like a NBF spy, go through the Lush, Ioffer, etc. thread and you'll see what I'm talking about:innocent: NBF makes the best spy replicas out there, your bag is still very nice:rolleyes:

totally egregious spread in today's WWD to start the day:

on walmart's "highly successful" metro 7 line: "we are finally serving that customer who has been in our stores all along."

lol, "data-driven initiatives" = code words for counterfeiting.

i don't see how WWD can support this blatant copying by giving it so much space...

the MAGIC supplement last week was even more ridiculous -- it featured an EXACT copy of the cream paddy and basically pointed people to the exhibitor where you could buy it in vegas.

positano! Ack, that's horrible! I hope that Chloe and Fendi sic their lawyers on Wal-Mart (since apparently, Chloe's been suing people who have bags that are only similar to the Silverado). With these blatant copies, you would think they would simply to protect the 'value' of their design!

The article is even more insulting because my name is Grace, and my friends call me Gracie. And I fit their "profile" too. Sounds like their after me, huh? Yeah right, in their wildest dreams. I wouldn't be caught dead in any of their sportswear or carrying their bags.
