Flip Flops

I'm addicted to flip-flops in the summer. If I'm going casual, they're the only option. But my feet never manage to get *that* dirty

well, I did a lot of walking today... walked crosstown 4 times...

and then 20 blocks up... so... with all the dirty sidewalks.. the dirt just appears... it's not just me.. a lot of my friends at school have the same flipflop problem hehe

I like them in some cases, but the girls in school make the most obnoxious flip flop noises as they walk down the hall. (step-SLAP-step-SLAP-step-SLAP...)

I know! I loathe those noises. I make some noise, it's pretty hard not to, but it doesn't sound like a horsey...

Oooh wet wipes.. that's a good idea.

I ducked into the bathroom and cleaned my feet off.. lol...

wet wipes seems a bit more practical.

I saw several people wearing those today. It looked like they had dusty marshmallows strapped to their feet.

That is one of my pet peeves. Dirty white flip-flops. Unless you are out gardening or something.

i HATE those chunky flip flops and i saw lots of them today.. for going to a fashion school, i sure see a lot of gross choices.

I wear Havaianas now almost all the time, with loong long pants, and Im always dragging dirt from all over on my feet, and it's gross!.. Thank god I always manage to find a bathroom to soak my feet on the sink, or a fountain, haha

I think flipflops are un-hygenic and possibly dangerous in a city as filthy as NYC. The city's cutbacks to the waste management program have turned the city into a veritable cess-pool come summer. I guess its just as bad in the winter, but it sure doesn't smell as bad Remember the piles of garbage sitting on the sidewalks for days last summer? When you're in flip-flops, all of the dirt, garbage juice, barf, and other misc. crap (including dog crap) is going to potentially end up flying againt the bottom of your feet as you walk. There is always glass strewn about the sidewalks and nails and scraps of metal . . . I rarely see any public workers cleaning anything in this city. They do sweep the streets around NYU once in awhile , but on the whole- yuck. I am not agianst flipflops in general, just in particularly dirty cities. I wear open toed shoes/sandals in the summer, but ones that are secured to my foot. There's my two cents- oh and I hate the shuffle that they tend to encourage

I cant wear flip flops. I just find them uncomfortable, and I need my arch support. But I'd rather wear flip flops than birkenstocks (well, in public)

In Helsinki you don't need to worry. It's always very clean.

I dunno... I don't think NYC is that dirty... I mean yes.. it's a city.. there's dirt everywhere... but I dont see glass lying on the sidewalk *shrug*..

My feet only got particularly dirty the other day because i was trekking everywhere alllll day.

Otherwise, my feet are fine.

Don't be scared of NYC.
