I heard an echo this morning in the fur vault.
No, you didn't Karen.

New York designers have shown us that the recession hasn't persuaded them to cut down on hyper-luxury.
In fact, they've decided to maximize it.

Mega fur.

Let's hope it's cold this winter, yes?

My question is, what the hell am I doing in Mexico? I adore fur, and the coldest we get here is 40 degrees F.

Fur is soft, gorgeous and feels amazingly warm... but I just can't bring myself to buy any of it. I feel so guilty.

Fur is like denim- overkill, and and its a fashion fail. Fur should be minimal and just be in moderation. It can be too outlandish to have huge amounts of fur. A lot of these images are just overkill, sometimes tasteless overkill. Only acceptable fur would be the second Dennis Basso fur coat (Post #1).

If this is any indication of what is to come in Milan, can you imagine the Mascare Karl's gonna send down the Fendi runway? I bet he'll have a whole ecosystem destroyed for the show lol.

^

Quite a few people are using the fur sleeve:

We are more than capable of making realistic faux fur, there's no reason for real fur being used unless you live in the Arctic and this is just complete overkill as the OP says, makes me sad.

didn't Donna say she was gonna stop using fur so Peta is like cool?

Oscar de la Renta, which I'm a fan of, has designed some lovely fur coats (Post #8). Everyone else is more like "let's truly turn up the volume on furs" while Oscar de la Renta is more like "keep it real." Most of the other designers mentioned here really overkill fur. Maybe some of the other designers should take some cues from Oscar de la Renta.

I LOVED the neon furs at Michael Kors this season. They're insanely fun and have a sort of luxe vulgarity vibe, like when YSL did that green fox chubby in the 70's.

I also really like those colored fur jackets at Thakoon. The orange/green one paired with those purple gloves

Jose Castro's are the worst. That looks like the body of a polar bear not a fur. So bulky.

How many animals had to die for this ugly ****?

Fur is such a lazy way of making a winter collection. Like florals and dresses for s/s

Let them eat mink ...

I truly find this surprising given the state of the economy and the pervasive buzz about not being a conspicuous consumer. I guess this is going to sell to the crass people who just don't care ... oh, wait ... :ninja: :innocent:
