GAP - what are your opinions??

their jeans grow larger after a couple of washes....

omg i know! i brought a pair that was a tight fit when i brought it, after like a month it became too loose

i think gap is overpriced, $40 for a plain shirt? The fabric is not that good and its not like anyone buys it for the brand:blink:

gap should stick to stocking the basics- i can find a velvet blazers and awful 'premium' denim but not a standard black merino turtleneck or a white shirt

I do think Gap is alittle overpriced with certain pieces. But hey....some people live in Gap. :ninja:

<H1>US: Gap reports negative December sales

Apparel giant Gap suffered lower December net and same-store sales, affected by traffic trends at all three of the company’s brands.

they've been losing a lot of money during the last nine months

Dkny Jeans is with Liz Claiborne too so is Dana Buchman/Ellen Tracy.

Doesn't Gap Inc. like own Banana Republic and Old Navy?

I love Gap tho, i've always liked Gap.

Yea... it's been said previously inthis thread that gap, banana, and old navy are all the same Company.

You'll find that two major companies own a lot of the labels out there.. and it's either Liz Claiborne or Jones New York

as for gap stuff... I find that going to the Banana Republic outlet near me, I come out with better things for better deals... I love the BR outlet!

the gap is alright for casual wear, plain simple designs, people are just more

sophisticated now and they want something fancy, and here in the states,

h&m is gobbling up all the sales

I HATE THEIR BLAZERS AND THEIR HORRIBLE FIT!!!!

sorry, todays an angry day.

i've decided not to shop at gap anymore

I Love the way thier petite size fit

I love gap i love thier Children Department too!

I pretty much dont bother to go to gap when shopping around, its pretty much a pass. Everything there reminds me of middle aged men....Although my friend just got a great coat from Banana Republic for 90 dollars. It was nice...

I, for one, am loving Gap's current collection (UK) they've got some fabulous pieces and I can't understand how they are still losing profit (though I can understand that with Joss Stone as your fashion frontwoman things must be difficult, I don't exactly look at her as being style savvy)

What do you all think?

I'm off to buy a grey wool pleated skirt from there tmrw. V. Marc Jacobs when worn with a polo neck or pussybow blouse!
I LOVE THE GAP IM WEARING SOME OF THEIR CLOTHING NOW.THEY ARE GREAT.BUT I THINK CHOOSING JOSS STONE WAS A BAD CHOICE.

I don't believe that.

^^ agreed

That's just generalizing Americans, I don't agree at all. There are trends all over the world and people all over the world follow them. Just because a few million teeny-boppers will imitate the way they saw someone on MTV dress, does not mean that the rest of us are like that.

If it works for you, keep wearing it! I think they have some cute scarves and gloves, but that's about it for me.

I don't think anyone she feel bad for shopping at the GAP , BR, or old navy. These are great places to pick up basics for work or weekend. You can't wear designer clothes everyday to work especially if you work in an office that is casual or like my office if they see me wearing or carrying a high end label they think they are paying me too much.

Yeah, that's the only reason why I go there. Their jeans actually fit me properly.
Plus, I found some really cute scarves for only $2.99 each, before they were $15.

Sorry to get off topic, but I am bothered by all the nastiness toward Americans in this thread.

Why is it necessary for posters here to specifically target large American corporations for the use of sweatshop labor? A lot of small boutiques, including those outside the US, sell products made by sweatshop labor. Those quirky "ethnic" items picked up at little stores inside and outside the US are often made by sweatshop labor...and plenty of overseas companies also rely on sweatshop labor.

Also, not all Americans are MTV-worshipping clones. It is a country whose Constitution defends freedom of speech and expression, as well as a country which is proud of its diverse heritage and the multitude of beliefs and tastes represented within its borders.

I second the petites comment! I can't buy jeans anywhere without having to hem them (I'm sooooo very short!).. at least if I buy the 30" inseams, I can wear them with heels or my sneakers.. no hemming required.

and BR is just a step up from gap.. I love most of their stuff.

I don't think GAP is a UK/American issue... so that might be a little inapropriate to discuss. :flower:
