Givenchy F/W 06.07 Paris

I think the collection is solid, but sadly is not as strong as his Spring/Summer '06 collection that was not given the accolades it deserved. Tisci is about the only designer since Givenchy to really capture the essence of Givenchy and bring in not only his sensibility but provide modernity. I hope Tisci doesnt let stupid trend obsessed editors tarnish his incredible eye and understanding of Givenchy. I would also like to point out how refreshing it is to see a designer that is not of colour, open his show with six black women ( that are distinctly black and not mixed) and also women of asian decent in a paris show where lord knows there are very few models other than white. Designers need to realize that they need to represt everyone in terms of ethnicity, because if they can have a African themed show and all of sudden have a surge in ethnic models cast and yet have white/european models as well then there is no excuse with the whole "they dont fit the look". Once again though strong collection(minus some bumps)^_^

I AGREE 100% PLUS KARMA FOR YOU! I love Tisci and these editors scream about trends and crap, but then in the magazines, they're all like "Fashion is personal style blah blah blah!" UGH I just wanna smack some!! :D But yes I highly agree with you..I just wish Prada would use someone black in their show!

couture_not_war Im trying to give u Karma, but TFS wont let me :(

Perhaps the hair was inspired by 50 First Dates?

I believe that hair might have been inspired from something of old...like there is a pic a few pages back..or it might have been Mary J Blige, because there were many black models in it, so I guess that probably was a statement. If the video is at style.com does the hairstylist talk about the inspiration?

Yea....i guess...oh btw is Marina Peres Mexican? her name sounds Mexican I know Hye Park is Korean and she is from Chicago (woot)!

Oh then that really doesnt count LOL she is still European haha but I love her look

I think it's really nice to see six black models open the show aswell; however I would've liked to see them integrated throughout the show evenly, with all of the other models.

It seem kind of forced; shoving them all out at first, as if they sort of wanted to "get it over with." I doubt that was their intention, but I still would've liked it if the made more than one appearence during the show, and not all at one.

Either way, great to see some beautiful black and asian models on the runway!:woot: :woot: :woot:

the red is starting to grow on me. as for the hair, i think it is fantastic.

I totally agree it feels like it was just something quick like "hey we got black models so we CANT be racist" then a parade of white models after that. I think it was a little stunt...I do like that they atleast had some black models...but oh well I do love the collection! I think he is amazing at Givenchy
