Givenchy S/S 2012 Paris

Very beautiful. I especially enjoyed the clerical feel to some of the looks

SPLENDID Collection! Great pieces, great fabrics, construction of the looks, great color pallete!
And that cast is D I V I N E! :woot:

Not my favorite this season but definitely a favorite among Tisci's ready-to-wear collections for Givenchy, this seems to pick up a bit the line he was going for back in 2008-2009, before all these narcissistic elements took over.. this extremely practical (almost too practical for my taste) but so refined and balanced that despite its easiness, would look incredible on anyone regardless of occupation (not just flamboyant editors like his past collections). To me he just delivered the epitome of a well-thought, quintessentially Givenchy RTW collection, secured more sales and prolonged his job for a few more seasons at least!.

Really, really good collection, I think. There's something about it that reminds me of early-aughts Helmut Lang, though definitely seen through Tisci's own sensibility. While it's not as statement making as fall (of which my opinion spun a full 180 degrees) there are some really beautiful pieces on display, and like MulletProof said, their pieces a lot of women can easily wear.

I also really like that there are hints of the classical couture shapes that have been popping up everywhere, but it doesn't look at all retro or burdened by references to the past.

I also feel the Helmut Lang in there particularly the Spring 2005 collection.

whilst i did love FW, and i am a sucker for a print, i am happy for this more wearable aesthetic. i would wear literally every single piece of this collection. i will always excuse a more modest, less innovative collection in favour of impeccable tailoring and fit, something a lot of collections seem to be lacking this season.

i might even say this is my favourite collection this season!

You said it all. I was hoping Tisci was going through a bad phase that would end soon, and I'm happy so see such a nice Givenchy RTW collection after last season's monstrosity. I won't be surprised if next season he presents another collection for "flamboyant editors" as you said, I don't think F/W was the last, but it's good to see that he didn't lose what made me love him as a designer, his capacity of mixing sexy and dark elements with extreme elegance and attention to details.

I am not feeling it. I like some looks and techniques - some of the black looks and white looks, the peplum and tiered effects, but the rusching effect on the pants is not to my taste. I see interesting ideas but the execution and refinement seem lacking.

ETA:
Also the ratty hair is not helping, there are some looks that I can't figure out and judge the details because the hair is in the way.

I LOVE the big boxy jackets: wish there were more of them. I also LOVE the silver looks. They are so brilliant. The cuts of the skirts are beautiful and all those frilly folds are fabulous. My only issue is that I'd like to see one more option in the pants department. Those skin-tight legging-type pants, especially in ivory or blush pink, will not be flattering or many figures. A loser hipster trouser would've worked with those tremendous jackets just fine, as an alternative.

Still: a gorgeous, cohesive, and directional collection from him, Hurrah!! :)

And we're back to the Tisci for Givenchy that doesn't quite do it for me.
I see a lot of the same idea going on, the same strange draped front on most of the pieces in different fabrics, and blazers with Stella McCartney-like dropped lapels.
This isn't doing a thing for me.

for the first time ever

i love a givenchy collection. wow. the metallics at the end are the best!

Double positive for this collection, all these mix of colors it's so gorgeous

Some of the outfits are great , but I can't help feeling this is quite stale . It is more of a regression than a progression.

omg! this turned out beautiful. i was so worried this would be another awful disney trip with mickey mouse hats!!
