Givenchy S/S 2012 Paris

It`s a complete opposite of Last season`s dark gothic collection - which I love! Everything is just so beautiful! The cuts, the lace, colors and the simplicity it brings. This is Givenchy at its simplest best.

Tisci go more simple this seasson

There are many things I love about this collection:

1. The fact that the show set (and from what i can sense, that atmosphere as well) is not as glitzy as before - shows that the house has the ability to be different every season, to not always give off the same feel so that they can always spark excitement

2. (OF COURSE) The clothes - simple, sleek, and elegant! The adjective I used not only described what Givenchy is as a fashion trademark, but also it's most famous muse - Audrey Hepburn, and it's new aesthetic ever since Mr. Tisci introduces this grand house to the 21st century! At first glance, one can mistake this as an A. Wang show, but the clothes themselves contain an elegant aura that is common with French tailoring and Parisian style!

*No model talk in D&C*

One last thing to say about Tisci : BRAVA!!!

i like this freshened up take on his RTW classics. this is getting closer to his Haute Couture offerings, which are sheer beauty.

i only have some small issues with the..... uhm..... 'vagina' blouses. mostly cause they look odd.

I'm clearly not seeing what everyone else is seeing... All I see is bad tailoring and weird cuts: bulky ruffles, those weird shirt tails on the pants that are absolutely ridiculous, the reversed racer-back dress which exposes boobs, awkwardly cut shorts on girls with gorgeous legs. It was a beautiful collection when I viewed in in motion, but in those HQ pics I really wonder what it would look like in "real life" on a "real" person. There's obviously a lot of beautiful things happening, the fabrics, the detailing, the color palette, the sleek footwear... but I'm too leery about the bad to appreciate the good.

:shock:Beautiful!! I have no other words. I knew Riccardo won't disappoint, he's a true genius!

Opinions usually varies dramatically when talking about Tisci's new creation, there is no question about it he really does a decent job in the brutal world of commerce, and sticks to his own traits and faith simultaneously, that's pretty rare in this industry nowadays. As for this season, he stands out because of his fluid interpretation of the current trend"Sea & Ocean", not for the direct prints but the palette and dreamy fabrics, and the vital part is:Tisci's impeccable in tailoring.

i love it. and the shoes and bags are out of this world awesome.

don't like this at all, had to look over and over again and really nothing

Am I the only one who feels like I'm looking at the same thing over and over again? Beyond that first great outfit with the flounce, there's NOTHING else. The other interesting outfits are variations on the exact same flounced peplum front. And those "skirts" hanging by a chain are really stupid.

yeah- the chain overall/jumpers are a real miss...
:ermm:...

i also don't like the shoes-
why do designers do sandals that have a pointed foot bed?
my feet aren't pointed- no one's feet are...
it just looks dumb and you are bound to trip over that bit that sticks out!

while i agree that there really is one basic design element repeated in various iterations throughout the collection-
i think that is not the worst thing ever...
the prices of these pieces are bound to be so astronomical that someone would probably just buy one piece anyway...
and one could look at it as an exploration of a theme...

it's good---imo
it' not perfect...but it's definitely good...

I really like aspects of it but other parts....especially the vagina like jackets and dresses. :/ Eh. I don't know. I'm not really feeling it 100%.

I know there are still some big shows to come but I just wanna go ahead and call this the best collection of the season. At least, my favorite. I love it how it's about a love affair between a surfer and a mermaid, yet looks super modern. Most designers would go straight to fishtail and whatnot. The only bit that remains of a mermaids tail are those 'dangly bits' that Horyn wanted to cut off. As if he captured the moment in the middle of a mermaids transition to a two-legged human. And those pants just seem to glide over the legs like oil over a calm sea. The seawolf is used fantastically and God I want the sharktooth necklace. I can go on and on, but I just friggin love this collection. That's two seasons in a row I bill Givenchy as my favorite/best collection.
