The flashiness of sequins, metallics, jewels, glitter and such-like returns to blind our shielded eyes with it's gaudiness once more. Like it or not, New York has revived it and it looks like it's going nowhere.

i love the textured ones
rather than the flat fluid smooth metallics.. lamé..
a little more uncommon

at marc j there was a blouse woven with very thick metallic yarns
even a metallic chenille
love their boaters as well
the only thing is , it is way way too shiny ... must be lacquered

The textured metallics are nice cause the smooth metallics can be a bit over the top for me. I have always been a fan of sequins as long as they don't remind me of a vegas show girl. I think most sequins have been used in some S/S 09 collections in good taste....most collections.

ohh i really love the whole sequin movement
very cool
i love the tory burch sequin dress
i know it's from a few seasons ago but it's so classic
classic shape and color

I really like it when everything is done in the same colour
that way it wont get 'too much'

I esp love the first ones from Phi in all black
hate the Isaac Mizrahi

maybe i should dig out this clingy super gold metallic mini dress i made in highschool...? i dont know. i dont like this trend much

i think the threads just float loose here
like wearing a mesh

I like metallics but I hate sequins. I liked them when they first started becoming trendy, but I didn't think it'd be a long-lasting trend and now I just wish it'd go away :yuk:

i feel like this is two separate things...

detailing like beading, sequins, jewels, etc...

and then metallic materials, shiny fabrics etc like at marc jacobs, derek lam and so on...

i'm a bit confused with where this thread is going...:innocent: i understand that it's about sparkle and flashy fabrics and detailing...but i don't know if that is a trend in and of itself...it seems more subtle than that, no?. i think it was last fall, or maybe last spring, that we had a thread for metallics (i remember the word molten in the title..:D) and i think that's probably continuing into this s/s...

but the jewels, sequins, beads etc are totally different imo...the only thing they have in common is that i guess they're 'flashy'....but in a very different way...

i just think that if we bunch everything together this thread is going to lose meaning and become overwhelming and maybe a bit directionless... each season there is going to be flashy detailing and loud fabrics... maybe we could narrow it down a bit more? :flower:

just my 2 cents..:flower:

Glitter S/S 09

They say, if Balenciaga does it, everyone does it.

Nothing more to add here. :p

ah Kim, so good to see you in trendspotting. I would say a lot of these looks give the illusion of glitter, but don't necessarily use it. That said, the thread title made me think of one of thing:

^ Ha........ My worst nightmare...

I like what was done at Balenciaga, a very futuristic feel with the colors that blended beautifully.

Designers not only played with glitter for spring 2009, they also interpret this trend using shiny fabrics. (sorry for my terribly english)
