Gucci Horsebit Hobo

I have the large version in the brown/caramel/hazelnut color from spring 05. I've barely used it, actually haven't touched it in months, and the bottom corners, where the side pieces of leather meet the bottom piece, are all worn off. It's a really obvious color difference and pathetic for a supposedly high quality bag I rarely use. Does anyone have any suggestions to improve the look? Should I try some shoe polish? I'm scared about finding the right color.....the SA at gucci keeps insisting I use mink oil, but again, I'm sort of scared. I've tried leather conditioner and it just went back to how it looked after drying. Anyone have any ideas?

that's bizarre and gucci should fix it (though I don't know how). I've had mine for years and despite my abuse it looks nearly new.

i've just been given a gucci plus by my mum too... her mum gave it to her as part of her wedding gift... that would be in 1984... if that helps...

been thinking of getting the large hobo how big are they really??? anyone has the exact size? also.. does the large one comes with zipped top? magnet? i mean what "close" the opening???

For those of you with the large/big *** version of this bag, how do you store it? Hanging, or stuffed and sitting up? I can't decide if hanging it is distorting the strap and wrinkling the weather weirdly, but seems like it would take up way too much room any other way.

Well, I had totally decided to return the large, and even cancelled my medium order (per all your advice) and then I checked the gucci website today.

The price went up from 1420 to 1495!!!

Now I'm back to not knowing what to do ... argh.

I'm not sure of the problem -- are you worried that if you change your mind down the road and decide you want it, it will be more expensive?

I think what dp woman means is you either want it or you don't and $75 shouldn't make the difference one way or another (especially since the bag is $1420 -- $75 is a drop in the bucket). for me, price is irrelevant to my desire for a bag (but it obviously plays a role in whether I actually buy it).

^^^Before she mentioned it, I hadnt even noticed the price hike. lol Come to think of it, they raise the price of this bag every year. The very first leather one was $1250 I think....then it went to $1390.....to $1420.....now its $1495. lolol The first increment was kinda large, I was peaved by that.

Legal, I apologize for being bitchy, I tend to get impatient with people. But if you're thinking about taking it back, you probably should. Because if you really wanted this bag, trust me-you'd be holding on to it for dear life. I think you like it, but not love it.

Does anyone that owns the authentic gucci horsebit hobo in black know what color the inside is supposed to be? I have seen some black ones with the red horsebit lining, and then some with the green horsebit lining. Which one is legit???

I bought mine from Gucci in NYC...Dec. '05...my lining is a plain black cotton fabric

^^^That bag is fake. Something looks off about the leather. And do the controllato cards even look like that? Do they exist? I never pay attention to them becuase I never have to. If I remember correctly the controllato card is just a white folded card.....not some fake credit card looking thing. And that tag hanging by a string.....thats not right. Most of the time, those things are in the inside pocket.

Just the other day, I reported someone on ebay for selling a fake.

I just wanted to know if the lining is supposed to look like that. That would be a shame is it isn't. Because I know so many people walking around with the horsebit lining - I thought the authentic gucci bags had this horsebit lining as well.

Does anyone have pics of the interior lining of an authentic gucci horsebit hobo - not the plain black leather, but the guccissima print?
