Gucci To Start Couture Line - Gucci Première

Sincerely ... If there is no show, I don't see the point in getting exciting or worried about this. Most of us aren't Couture customers ...

I'm sure Gucci is already doing some private stuff for who is requesting it and have the money and cachet ...

c'mone. no big deal !

There's too much pessimism going on here in my opinion
I mean give her at least a try, still better than see another MEDIOCRE Dior couture collection no?

....

pretty much everything beats Frida's vision of Gucci.

even the behated DSquared2.

Oh no, Frida is better than DSquared2 you have to admit . I just do not think Frida's design skills are at the level to offer people those statement, one-of-a-kind, covetable gowns and pieces . She cannot even properly design a knock-out RTW collection .

If it is hidden like Roberto Cavalli's so-called 'haute couture', then that's fine .

celebs tend to do that. i saw that video of Rihanna where she met with Frida and went through her sketches, saying she wanted that top part in that and that fabric and color and the bottom part of another of Frida's 'creations'.

it's like all those pieces we see on red carpets where we say it's 'modified'.

im expecting HUGE things from her. this is a monstrous opportunity for her to silence the critics. they've already compared her to H&M & zara- so she needs to bring her 'A' game full force. im ready & waiting to see what she has in store.

How on earth could this be a good idea? Specially in these times? Wtf!!
It seems a great idea to me.
"These times" are not affecting the targeted clientele. Frida isn't going after the middle-class women who buy the bags but the actual super and nouveau rich with more money than taste.
If you look at the creations of some of the designers who got couture accreditation presented just today and yesterday, Frida should not have any trouble meeting what passes for couture standards these days.

It's no different than what Cavalli is doing with his bespoke thing, and I can see it being a great business move considering the prestige of the Gucci brand in the emergent markets of Asia, where the big (and new) money is.

Gucci and Frida and couture - takes a while to get my head around that concept! I imagine that somewhat similar to Atelier Versace. Just with more... horsebits!?!
It cant be worse than what Valentino is now or some of the Paris crowd, Mabille, anyone? And it can't be more boring that Saab, so I don't think it's the fabric of universe will become unraveled if Frida does HC. :innocent: (honestly, they allow anyone to be a couturer or a guest member these days, next thing, I'll do couture :buzz: )

if anyone at Gucci could have done couture, it would have been Tom Ford. His Gucci was glamorous, but when I think of Frida's Gucci, I think of more hippie stuff with lots of florals. I don't think she's cut out for it, but we'll see.

Hum... Should be interesting to see what Frida can do on HC!

O_O

The federation needs to be a more selective about which house can attach couture to its name.

I think in terms of craft, this Couture of Gucci's might not be as spectacular as something like Atelier Versace. Gucci is symbolic of fast fashion and having products that are mass-produced and generally lower in quality than say, something at Givenchy or Balenciaga.

I think what they are trying to do here, is to create a line that will be more private and less likely to be bought up by the millions all over the world.

This 'Gucci Couture', for me at least, is an attempt to be more exclusive and more luxurious. I do no think of this in any way as being close to the artistry of Haute Couture.

Seriously. Not to mention Gucci Group should let Nicolas do to the couture line of Balenciaga instead of pushing Frida, a person unable to pull off her RTW collections to create Gucci Couture.

Seriously, is this that big of a deal?
I would hope no one is going to lose sleep over this haha.
Anywho, I am the slightest bit interested to see what she would for with a couture collection because of her whole hippie, rock n roll aesthetic. It could end up translating well to couture but of course it could be a mess.

I am always interested in seeing new things. No need to judge before you have seen something.
