Haider Ackermann certainly knows how to set a mood. Showing at a cavernous Florentine palazzo rigged with clusters of chandeliers and backed by the melancholic vocal stylings of model Jamie Bochert, Ackermann presented his first men’s looks. Although he took pains to assert that the men played a supporting role to the women’s precollection, the guys outnumbered the gals. “Who is the man behind my woman?” he mused backstage. For starters, the man had traveled through North Africa, judging by the ornately embroidered jackets and harem pants. Ackermann’s muse, on the other hand, floated like a mirage in cascading tonal silks. “Like the fabric is fainting to the floor,” he said. The couple shared a sense of evening drama and a love of the designer’s signature draping. Whether Ackermann will commercialize the men’s wear remains to be seen, but his lady has definitely met her match.

I'm sticking to the womenswear. It's absolutely gorgeous, especially look number 2.

it's gorgeous. i'm loving the jackets in the men's.

The menswear is actually more appealing than anticipated, there's a lot of color too which I find is rare to see in Haider's collections. Would love to see the full collection!

The second picture at the top. That dress is mind-blowing beautiful.

As for the menswear. Its simple yet elegant

I hate (!) animal prints. I was not expecting Haider to show us animal prints. These jackets look like pyjamas. I can't say I like it...

You know seeing his first menswear offering it's at once different and very similar to how I pictured it. I assumed his sensual fluidity would work it's way into the clothes, but I was expecting something quite sedate - his basics really, just adapted for men. These are his basic pieces, but I really don't think there's anything basic about the way they've been transformed.

I'm absolutely in lust with that red silk jacket. It's gorgeous.

I'm not feeling the menswear, really. There's way too much going on in these outfits, with those rolled up jacket sleeves, skarves and belted kimono vests. There's nothing wrong with the infusion of colour and silky brocades, but the overall impression I'm getting from these looks is that it all seems rather busy and contrived looking.

Seeing these first outfits makes me think of Tom Ford's Spring/Summer menswear collection circa 2001 (or was it 2000?), in which there was also a heavy Chinoiserie feeling about the clothes (with lots of colourful kimono robes and silky budokan-pants), but the way he offered it remained a very easy to wear, put-it-on-and-go feeling that I think is very essential with menswear.

did he design the menswear line in bed? despite they're all wearing slippers i'd definitelty like to get my hands on one of his dresses. they look so exquisite!

The womenswear is very beautiful.

The menswear particularly does look like very elegant loungewear but it's gorgeous nonetheless.

I find the menswear to be a perfect mix between Demeulemeester and Dries Van Noten. Although some of it seems rather out of place (like the leather hooded sleeveless jacket), maybe he should have kept this first collection more focused; it seems a bit much now. But hoping to see more looks!

^oooooh....that last brocade jacket with the fringe  in fact,i adore that entire layered look.....of course i would probably wear boots rather than slippers.
