Health Food Beginner

Not the trans fat free magarine. ;)

Now, drinking warm water in the morning helps your digestion a lot. (no, izzie stevens, I don't drink it to get myself to the bathroom every morning. For me that works just was well without warm water.) Chinese teachings regarding balanced diets say so, and I really believe that. To me it seems that sibce I started srinking 2 glasses of warm water in the morning, I don't eat as much as I used to eat before during the day.
It probably is similar to the effects of eating pure, un-sugared cereals in the morning: Your intake of fat throughout the day's lower.

yeah, i don't need help with that in the morning, either! which is great because a very important part of keeping healthy is going to the bathroom and having a bowl movement at least once a day. if that's not happening? then you have a problem... and the sad part is that many people don't have bowl movements daily and don't bother with approaching their doctor about it being, really, how weird is it to go to a doctor's appointment and say, "hey doc! i am not pooping on a daily basis! help!"

i am going to have to give this warm water thing a try, though, if it's all that healthy and beneficial. how warm do you drink it? luke warm, or room temperature?

Here's an interesting article on the benefits of drinking warm water (in this case, the author discusses drinking the water after a meal, instead of in the morning). I'm no expert, so I don't know whether it's true or not, but it's certainly interesting at the least.

*warm water is usually meant "at room temperature"

i too think drinking water at room temperature in the morning is beneficial. but i almost always drink green tea in the morning - habit forming.

the water thing is really interesting, my mums friend - who is actually a beautician and looks amazing for 70- claims that you shouldnt drink and eat at the same time... it sounds weird but things like water/alcohol/juice all spoil the nutrients and vitams from the food or something along those lines. I dont really follow it but its interesting that it was mentioned to drink after.
on the other hand the green tea every morning is an amazing habbit as well, i dont feel sane without to be honest.

i will defenitely try the 'warm' water thing! I'll have one right after i wake up and one after each meal. I will also try the only fruit/vegtables day once a week from now on!

Any tips on food I should bring into my "diet"?

interesting thread and I should definitely start to get healthier because I was always so tired the last months

Do you like yogurt? Sometimes I eat that for breakfast paired with granola. You just have to make sure the granola isn't chock-full of fat and calories, because many times it will be.

I usually use granola bars, which are low-fat and overall pretty healthy.

^ Definitely. I like eating spinach (it's one of my favorite vegetables), whether it be on pizza or in salads.

- Nuts have good fats and vitamins and minerals, and there's great diversity so you won't get bored. Salmon and avocado have good fats, too.
- Eat diverse grains - not only rice and wheat (in pasta and bread), but also millet, spelt, rye, ...
- Blah blah lean protein blah blah, veal yoghurt fish soy chickpeas blah blah
- Don't do too many of your fruit days, you'll feel bloated and get sick of the acidic sweetness soon. Rather incorporate fruit into your regular days that also have solid food.
- You can never have too many veggies. Eat them both raw and cooked. Strangely, sometimes the frozen kinds are better than the supposedly fresh kinds because the vitamins don't get lost during shock-freeze treatment while you never know how long that zucchini has been laying in the shop.

^^ Try to include grapefruits

Be careful with grapefruit though if you happen to be someone who takes certain medications, e.g antidepressants/SSRIs. I don't know the specifics but I have heard that it can cause a toxic reaction.

I second this suggestion. Most people can only handle so much fruit at a time because of the sweetness. It's not very filling, either, but that might be beside the point.

sliced apple with hummus [preferrably plain hummus]
yummmmmmmmmm!
^_^

another healthy tid bit ...

flat rice cake [preferrably brown rice cake - No Salt] with cheese spread of any kind.
yummmmmmmmmm!
^_^
