Hedi Slimane leaves Dior Homme

Dior did almost 1billion US this past fiscal year, 10% of that was Dior Homme, that means roughly 900million US was Dior womenswear...

Uh I think you're forgetting Dior perfumes and makeup, which make most of the money at Dior, followed by bags.

But I don't see Galliano leaving soon. If I'm correct, his own line is in hands of LVMH too, so I guess he's going to stick around for awhile.

so this is finally final and over right...?

well..im not all that shocked since i got through that phase already for last season(which i thought would be the debut of the new designer)

KVA isnt bad...not bad at all. i wonder if he will continue with hedi's way..or the way hedi had set up to represent DH or will he completely change the concept. but anyways...KVA isnt that that far fetched from hedi's style...this would be interesting.

oh hedi...there will always be people like me that follows him  doesnt matter where he goes.
i do hope to see his women's wear...since he's men's wear is a bit on the rocks recently(at least i think it is)

good good..all is well, ends well

edit: i wonder what will the DH buyers think...

"must.... follow..... hedi." :ninja:

DH said they want to change the focus but still leave some heritage, right? I don't know how that will turn out. I always thought Hedi was the soul of DH. For me, it can be either disguised reciclying or an entirely new thing.

Totally agreeing with this. I'm always excited about new headdesigners though :D . Fashion need some "fresh blood" (god, that sounds discusting)

what i dont understand is was Dior Homme f/w 07 the last collection Hedi Will do for the brand?

*confused*

I never thought this Day would come. but stranger rhings have happened.

I think the people at LVMH is making a mistake here. this is like a step or two down.
KVH is not in Hedi's league, he may get there but he is not there yet..........

Hedi may be heading to Chanel:innocent: SShhhh!!!!!!

The whole point is that he wants his OWN line and to design WOMENSwear also.

Chanel can't offer him that.

I still put my money on him finding a Japanese financer.

Well, Why can Chanel offer him that?
Lagerfeld is 73 er, 68 according to him. so he won't be around forever.
chanel Has the money for him to have his own line (even though they may not give him that)
One thing i know, is that if he goes to Chanel, which is just a speculation based on his relationship with Lagerfeld and Chanels desire do do menswear.
He would have had the distiction of heading up the three of the four great pillars of French Fashion YSL, Dior, and Chanel, with Balenciaga being the fourth..........

You may be right about the Japanese Financier though, as His biggest market is there...................

I think this is good news, Hedi at Dior was deteriorating and someone who is able to bring up a brand like that into what it is today will fair success on his own, where he can work on his own terms. Nice time for change.

The DH PR firm is so disrespectful and blah...i hope they go too!

Appearantly, there is some kinda godly being somewhere....

YES for no more tree-tall, preteenagers on White Horses and YES for more international street credibility (London Rock&Roll boys is SO overdone).

I'm looking foward to seeing what Hedi's next move will be...This situation reminds me of Tom Ford leaving Gucci in a way...It would be great to see him designing men's and women's though

Hedi at Chanel is such a perfect match...

I dont think Karl would ever give up the reigns without dieing first...MAYBE to Chanel Homme.

^^ Chanel Homme... that's what i've always thought to be perfect for Hedi... first Homme, then Karl dies/retires (i hope not soon) and Hedi takes over womenswear

i am actually very happy about this... i had read somewhere around here that quality at DH was getting reaaaaally poor... and really often that was blamed on Hedi. If it really was his fault, the brand will recover its quality. If it wasnt his reputation will be a lot better.

(PARIS)
Kris Van Assche has been officially named artistic director of Dior Homme, the company announced this afternoon.
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Kris Van Assche who will continue the development of Dior Homme with the high-quality team that we already have in place,” said Sidney Toledano, president and chief executive officer of Christian Dior Couture, in a statement. No further information was provided, but the Belgian-born designer is perhaps likely to present his first Dior Homme collection as early as this summer during Paris men’s fashion week.
Today’s news strengthens Toledano’s mission to carve Dior a different identity from the one Hedi Slimane generated from his first show in January 2001.
Van Assche, who worked for seven years at Dior Homme under Slimane, will be charged with creating the brand’s ready-to-wear and accessories collections. He will continue to design his eponymous line, which was launched in January 2005. The 30-year-old is a graduate from the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts and has also worked with Slimane at Yves Saint Laurent.

“Christian Dior is the absolute image of couture,” Van Assche said in a statement. “I am very pleased to be joining this house where the legacy and savoir-faire of the ateliers are unique. These are strengths that will be the bases of my work.”
Speculation had grown rampant in the past 10 months that reportedly drawn-out contractual negotiations might lead to a split between designer and house. In announcing Slimane’s departure, LVMH chief Bernard Arnault seems to echo the sentiments of rival PPR, who encountered a similar situation with Tom Ford, at the time creative director for both Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, who bowed out in 2004 after both sides butted heads over contractual agreements as well.

I don't think he'd go to Chanel to do a much speculated Homme line waiting for Karl to retire when, as I said before, the main issue was that he wanted his OWN line and to do womenswear.

If LVMH won't pay for that I'm not sure that Chanel would.
