dhclam posted this in the Dior Homme AW 06.07 thread

insider's news direct from showroom:
Hedi Slimane has just renewed his contract with DH, and will surely be having new projects coming out, and they are all in his mind. Regarding this season's change, he just wanna let people know that he's still capable to keep the ideas of making "couture for men", and bring it to life.
To those who don't like the evening look, there will be lots of tees, sneakers and jeans, plus, bags are gonna be major and well-made. We'll see if your buyers from your city be capable to choose the things that you want....BTW, eveybody like the song very much, myself included.
Quoting this for those who apparently didn't read it the first time it was posted.

I'd read something somewhere, I have to find it, but essentially, he has some kind of contract like Lagerfeld has where, essentially, he could design for another house without having to give up the post he has at DH...

i don´t think LVMH will let him design for Ysl while still doing it for them :ninja:

Hedi at Gucci! haha omg i heard that Frida got fired...oh well i guess that that isnt true either...

The GUCCI Group is going crazy about getting profits asap or they they'll hang all thier designers...... working with those people is so scary !?

Slipped into obscurity? Are you serious? Just because it isn't totally tarted up and sexed out doesn't mean it's slipped into obscurity. Quite the contrary. I think sales of Pilati's YSL have far surpassed Ford's YSL. The campaigns are huge successes, the clothes are flying off the shelves, they just sponsored the Guggenheim Young Collector's event and every celeb and socialite was dripping in YSL. The brand is "cool" again.

I honestly couldn't imagine womenswear by Hedi. I think it would be far too mannish and constricting and cold and unsexy. Yves had a respect for and understanding of women that I don't think Hedi does right now.

i second that..
btw, hedi is totally obsessed with developing the DH skincare line, its his new toy.. he seems clever enough to play the ysl hommage, after all, Hedi is losing ground to Stefano and Elbaz, he seems to 'be shopping' for some buzz but it seems a bit desprate to me.. as for the rumour, the wwd ngth posted says it all.. its NOT standing

Agreed. I'm sure Hedi knows that a lot of people think his last few collections are basically crap, so he's trying to fix things. But I just think he's lost the inspired creative spark he once had...IF it was ever indeed his, which again brings the argument of how much involvement/influence his assistants truly had. This is such a circular discussion.

I think the current status is just perfect, Pilati for YSL, Hedi for Dior Homme. YSL keeps tht feminine look, Dior looks good, but seems to lack new inspiration. If Pilati got sacked now, the Group must be mad.

But god knows, fashion is fashion, ppl love seeing new things. U got more changes in the place of the designers' seat nowadays.

There's never smoke without a fire....

Valerie Hermann who was named CEO of Yves Saint Laurent comes from Christian Dior, and frontrow at Dior Homme included Catherine Deneuve,Pierre Bergé and Betty Catroux.

if he gets anything at all it would certainly be menswear

this thread should be re-titled "....might leave....", otherwise it just sounds too shocking.....!

Vogue repeats the rumour!

HOORAY FOR HEDI: Rumour has it that Hedi Slimane might be about to throw in the Dior Homme-monogrammed towel to take up a job at arch rival Yves Saint Laurent.

From Vogue.co.uk

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if some of Vogue's journalists had just caught onto this thread and decided to spread the word...

I'd like to think that they are more professional thna that.... Anyway, this is not the only place where this is being discussed for more than a week now... there was no reason to wait for so long... I think they may have heard something more solid than a rumour but not official yet....
