I've noticed this look in the latest collections of chic clothes mixed with the look of a girl who has been out all night, with make-up that makes the face look thinner and dark dark eyes.. like a girl with money, style and a habit..
i personaly really like it as a trend.

hmm i suppose this "works" on the runway, but trying to recreate this in real life would look way freaky. and that whole super-skinny nicolerichiekeirakneightlyetcetc thing is sooo passe, go for the oreos!

Don't really know how much I see it here, maybe in the makeup, but not really the clothes.

Heroin chic was monochrimatic, slick, and spare which made expensive look not so expensive. There was something very raw and unfussy about it all.

I miss those days.

If it was heroine instead of heroin, I'd be intrigued. :ninja: I hope someone changes the title to the thread.

yeah i was thinking that too.. there must be a way

but i personally realy like this look on the runways.. its stylish yet frazzled

as for the title of the thread.. not sure where i first heard it called heroin chic but it exists as a style - at least this is my take on it

here are some more from Nina Ricci:

To be honest, I don't see it either. most of these looks seem to be trying to channelling another kind of inspiration not nearly as sober and aggresive as heroine chic was in the mid 90's.. I think our current society might be too sensitive to bring it back all that soon..

however, it'd be nice to have this thread to reminiscence or as a source of inspiration for such a memorable time. ^_^

^ I totally agree with you Mullet. Especially now with so much controversy surrounding model weight, even the suggestion of a revival of heroin chic is bound to garner a s***storm. Question though, was the thread title changed from heroin to heroine?

Still, for better or worse, I love it.

Gucci s/s 97 will forever be burned in my mind as the epitome of heroin chic, it's dark, brooding, dangerous and dirty....

love those pics from nina ricci and i love the fact we could do an homage thread to that look im so fond of!

Sorry, spike. I got both confused and paranoid about the title last night . it's all back. and I love the picture of kirsten? that you posted.. they bring back so many memories.. even Titanic memories :ninja:. which I know are completely unrelated. my aunt used to buy tons of magazines with fashion reportages, I borrowed many of them.. the ones with Leonardo Di Caprio pictures to be specific . but I indirectly started keeping track of the collections featured there..

Armani S/S 97?98?.

[snapped by me]

that used to be one of my favorite looks. we (friends and I) did try it at home.
I was so surprised to realise that was natasha vojnovic a couple years ago.. can't believe she's been around for that long!.

ah yes! i grew up during the nineties and find myself strangely drawn back to it's styles lately...i call my new look 'lydia beetlejuice"

^ Yup, that's the ever pouty Kirstey Hume in my post.

I can't believe that's Natasa you posted, and from so long ago. My earliest memories of her only go back to 2001. She looks so young there.

Even though this isn't likely to make a comeback anytime soon, seeing it is such a welcome change from the obsession with pretty/girly clothes fashion has yet to get over.

Some more vintage looks to get you in the mood.

can someone please explain this look to me ?? as i have been told loads i have this look ... with out trying btw of course .. but i dunno whatit is .. too many late night raves ?? lol

prity please keep the pics coming etc

^ Basically it's the loook dubbed in the mid ninties for the waifish look models had. Pale skin, skinny androgynous kind of body, sharp features (like cheekbones), dark eye makeup....all creating a kind of "strung out" appearence (but obviously not a realistic one).

The clothes were all very dark and monochrome, sleek, fitted and minimal. It was the predominant look throughout the mid-late ninties and was extremely controversial at the time.

^^ thank you very very much :flower: im offeneded now people think i look like that lol although its most probaly true lol

i always look like this on saturday/sunday mornings

haha no matter what i will always love heroin chic. i think i'm going to start rocking this look again... i don't care if it is 'soooo passe', it's great.
