but i notice the guy is wearing them(april 77) it looks odd because his crotch showing a bit too much lol , i think its more suited for girls.

Mine are topshop. I was really pleased because normally I find topshop sizing a bit off.

I dont know about this trend for guys. My bf tried on the Cheap Monday Eiffels just for fun and he looked so short! Somehow the high waist makes guys look so short cause it "takes away" the upper body.. I think this trend is best for girls. I like the April 77 ones as such...

high waists in general suit the female body best , boys in high waist is gross , a man body is a V shape so the jean.pant should show his torso more , in women high waist accentuates the female curves and form , the waist. Topshop has a new Z jean , it looks very nice. Are those the R jean deborah?

I don't know I can't remember. They weren't with the other jeans they were on their own.

ugh, I have a pair of brown corduroy (sounds ugly don't they?) Ralph Lauren pants that are straight leg, all I know is this, they are comfy, but a lil snug around the waistline. gotta watch the carbs! lol

I've always called high waisted "flat butt jeans". No matter how they are executed, you have an elongated butt that flattens out and your torso is shortened. Not a flattering look no matter how perfect the body. I make pants and I wouldn't care how the trend "gods" are calling it for the seasons...just a very, very bad idea.

agreed, no wonder I don't wear those pants anymore. lol :yuk:

plus, I don't think that you can pair, but so many tops with high waisted jeans.

Very true. It's a conflict then....tuck the top in and look like you have no torso and a long butt or crop top it and look like you have no torse and a long butt.....hmmmm

I disagree , if you look at contemporary history , high waists have dominated the 40s , 50s ,70s , 80s and well into the 90s , I disagree with the flat butt, my high waist jeans make my butt look great , I have seen sooo many girls in sagging low rise jeans , with blubber coming at the back , and the jean pockets on the thigh rather than the butt. My cousins said in the early 70s when low rise hip huggers were reigning supreme people laughed at high waists , by 1974 when high waists came back , people embraced them and dominated the look of the era and even in the 80s . Low rises look good on teenage girls IMO , I think regular rise (9-10) inch is the best on the vast majority women , none of the big fashion houses do low rises anymore.

high waists encentuate the female form in a good way , lots of people are just used to jeans going so low , it takes time for people to get adjusted to new looks , the same thing happened with skinny jeans , people abhorred them initially then they skyrocketed to superstardom .

Regarding the low rise, well, not everyone wears them properly. Very true. It is a horrid sight when you see the "blubber" but low rise jeans are a fabulous design. The placement of the pocket directly on the butt is very 70's/early 80's. Once again, that was on high waisted pants. It really depends on what you are into. I for one think the pockets on the lower part of the derriere are extremely flattering even if some are lacking a little in shape of the "bum". If you have to go high, then the pant should just barely hit the bottom of the belly button. It works on various proportions if you have a higher placed waist or lower. As for the big fashion houses, oh well, their loss. ;)

The pocket is suppose to be on the butt LOL, pockets on your back thighs looks weird and its not suppose to be there then it makes your *** look saggy . I am not saying everybody should be wearing super high waisted pants/jeans but I am saying is a regular rise or at waist (which is high waisted relative to the hip huggers of of the past years ) is much more attractive on women in general than low rise .Well its no loss to the fashion houses , their customers are lapping it up , high waists have been done by fashion houses for the past 2 years and its selling because its a look which will dominate even more so in the coming year esp in denim, that doesnt mean you stop wearing low rise jeans , just means you have more options .

I just can't get into the high waisted denim. I agree with Fashionista NYC, I just don't see how high waisted jeans are supposed to compliment the female figure, when in my opinion they just flatten and elongate indeed. Now, I have seen women wearing the high waisted tweed shorts, which I find actually rather cute.

Thanks 23 Seconds! You know, I have to agree with the tweed shorts. They are cute. But for me, and it is just my taste, everyone has their own favorites, I just happen not to like the pants. Disco 54, if you love them, then power to you. What looks good on you may not on me. Major fashion houses don't always hit the nail on the head. The general public will keep wearing lower rised jeans/pants since they are beyond the fad phase. They will always be around. ;)

If you cant get into high waisted jeans , try high pants and skirts , they are much easier to get into. yeah i dont think low rise will disappear but super low rise its safe to say has gone.

it runs bigger in the waist.
i wear a 25 in earnest sewn for instance. i need a 0/2 in grey ant depending on how rigid the denim. i always need the waist taken in.
