and for petite ladies, this is going to make them look EVEN SHORTER!!!

I need all the height that I can get... so this lil shorty is going to PASS on this hideous trend! :yuk:

people i know have been wearing these for some time...
i don't think they are going to replace the skinny...
they just give all the people who incessantly wear designer denim another option...
ince they probably already have several pairs of every other style by now...

never EVER heard anyone call them skyscrapers though...

and i just went to coterie...
where virtually every denim company in the world is represented...
so i don't know about that name...:ermm:...

these have been around for ages, non? and there are quite a few high waisted bell bottomed jeans i've seen around lately...especially at H&M...

I don't necessarily see them as a bad thing, like softgrey said it's just gonna be about option for people who want to wear denim.

As for them on myself, I'll reserve judgement till I am able to try a few pairs on personally. ;)

why can't it be "stylish/trendy" to wear jeans that are not "super low" or "super high"....why can't function just be fashionable....i will continue to wear my jeans in a flattering and comfortable rise, not too low and not too high...thats just me...some styles i am more than happy to jump on the train for (hello skinny dark jeans!) but when it comes to the rise of my trousers, i guess i'll take comfort over style unless every designers decides to create only one kind of rise for jeans/trousers...i shudder to think ot if^_^

I know that this would just exaggerate my hips. I wear skinny jeans but it doesn't have the same effect. My hips are noticeable in skinnies, but I just look plain old frumpy in these. I actually tried the grey ant jeans and it just makes my tummy look pregnant and mine is very flat.
The way the fabric drapes with the wider leg makes me look short too and I am 5-7.
It reminds me of when I was a raver.
I DO love how it looks on tall slim girls, who can wear flats with it. Part of me also doesn't like the way it drags on the floor, and this is a look that needs to be long, if it get's too high, it looks weird.

^..in other words it's definitely not for everyone...although people wore these in the 70's like anything else...

i LOVED this style in the 70's....worn with a wedge or platform...
made my legs look a mile long...and my butt looked great!...

**of course i was 12 and hadn't developed any hips yet ...:innocent:...

:p...

i'd love to be able to wear them if they'd give me height and be more flattering than skinny jeans...i dig that neo-70s look.

I'd love to see more pics of this trend... ...perhaps runway pics.... ^_^

i's hard for me to imagine you wearing the shoes that you would need to pull off this look...

but i do think the style would work on you if you were willing to deal with some higher shoes...:flower:...

you're totally right..i was thinking that when i posted, thinking would i really wear heels that are practically as high as i am tall? and you know, i'm trying to make adjustments to my current wardrobe choices, so maybe the new me could pull it off? i'd be willing to try it, because i do really like the look.

i think it worked in the 70s because platforms were the rage. i am definitely not bringing that trend back ( platforms) lol

newsflash...
PLATFORMS and wedges are a huge trend again!!!...:woot:...

if you start with a wedge i am sure you'd find them totally doable and i think you would look adorably sexy.....................

I've actually treid high waisted bootcut jeans before and I look horrible in them. It makes my thighs look MASSIVE and brings all the attention to them. I imagine if this becomes a trend, tops would also have to change so they look good tucked in.

^Everyone should stay away from bootcut, honestly. I'd love a pair of black semi-high waisted straight leg jeans.

am i the only one who thinks that the wearer cannot have any hips to wear these?
