Hillary Duff's Bitchfight with Faye Dunaway

she is so dumb!
Faye own an oscar for that role. it IS an iconic movie. does this girl know what she is talking about??? and to insult her looks. does she own a mirror? i'm so disgusted by her foul big mouth. she insults a well respected actress like that?! what a dummy. is she even relevant. it will prob be a straight to dvd release.

i'll love to see hilary's oscar worthy performance. what a c

Hilary Duff vs. Faye Dunaway....

Yeah, that's an even match

Honestly, the fact that all Hilary could muster was to insult Dunaway's age and looks (which is insane cause I think she looks pretty damn good) says it all. She should just back away slowly before Mommy Dearest finds the nearest wire hanger...

"Couldn't they at least cast a real actress?" Faye Dunaway on the casting of Hilary Duff in the remake of Bonnie & Clyde [Sun-Times]

even if her comment is condescending, it's the truth. duff is no serious actress by any stretch of the imagination
this is movie and a role that won oscars... how does a pop star whose fan base basically ranges from 6 to 13 year olds get appointed this role. is this a disney remake? (seriously.... is it?)

i have to say though... i am a bit surprised at hilary's response as i guess she is known for her fairly sweet, polite personna... i wouldn't expect such a childish and rude reaction from her part.

really silly... faye's payed her dues and she's got nothing to prove... her on the other hand, has some pretty big shoes to fill.

Just a small correction. Faye did NOT win an Oscar for Bonnie and Clyde, she was nominated though. The Oscar that year in Best Actress category went to Kathfrine Hepburn for Guess Who's Coming To Dinner. Faye won an Oscar for Network in 1977.

Hilary needs to fall back. Faye questioning the casting selection is warranted. Hilary is not and I'm sorry to say does not seem to be on her way to becoming a decent let alone a good actress especially not one that can pull off reprising such a role as Bonnie Parker. Her remarks were off base, immature and reeked of stupidity. Not only did she insult Faye but she insulted her own fan-base.

Yeah, but it's not like Fay was that much of an actress before she did Bonnie and Clyde. According to imdb, she made two other movies prior, both of which have a rating of 5+, and I don't even know how big a role Faye had in each of those. The point is that every actress needs that big "break" and who knows maybe this will be it for Hilary. What has Charlize Theron done before Monster? Hilary Swank before Boys Don't Cry?

Put yourself in Hilary's shoes. You're a young actress trying to make it in Hollywood. You've been cast in a big movie, only to be called "not a real actress" by an iconic actress who played the role before. That's gotta hurt. Yeah, she could've just ignored it and taken the high road, but she didn't. And to only blame her for what she said is not fair when Faye was the one who started 'it'.

yes she did two unnoticed films but she subsequently followed bonnie & clyde with the thomas crown affair. and as spike so metaphorically pointed out ()faye was in mommie dearest which in my recollection is still considered a cult classic. also,chinatown,network...need i go on? how can you say that basically most of her work was crap and serves no right to question?

the fact is,those two films were of substance before she got that role. what has hil done exactly? i would hardly call the cinderella story a riveting piece of work nor an answer to give an iconic role to her.

and you must remember too, this is faye's biggest film and it's part of her and her career so she has a right to question things. why are they even re-making it anyway? haven't these hollywood hacks realised never mess with a classic. case in point: the day the earth stood still....bloody awful!!

Hilary, Hilary, Hilary. You couldn't insult Faye on her acting skills. So you had to go below the belt and insult her looks. Be careful Hilary, Faye could cut you.

Hilary Duff really needs to be careful how she picks her fights. I can't believe she was stupid enough to say something like that. She should've gotten her bitchy side out when it was her vs. Lohan and no one cared, but to make catty (and lame) remarks about an established Hollywood icon could be a career-ending move.

WHAT? Did you read what I said? I never said most of her work is crap. I said she's an iconic actress. What I said was that she was a nobody BEFORE she got B&C. That was her breakthrough role. So when she got that part she was't in any better position than Hilary is now. I would never say Faye is a nobody, I loved her in Chinatown and Network. Two of my favorite movies ever.

But Mommie Dearest, although clearly classic now, did get her a Razzie award. :innocent:

It's funny to see the cycle because Hilary really had Miley Cyrus' career 8 years ago. I think Hilary's music career has evolved nicely but she has not proved much in the acting arena, even when she was battling Lindsay Lohan way back when people always commented that Lindsay at least had acting talent.

Well Dunaway is an old woman. She should've shown some class and refrained from the insults.
I agree with this ^

It's only natural for a people to retaliate..it's just unfortunate people make such a big deal about it

With her resume, Faye gets to be a b*tch. The moment Hillary has an Oscar in her hands, that's the moment to hit back at the critics, though by that point, there'll probably be no need.

Though this discussion brings to mind Terry O'Neill's famous shot of Faye Dunaway in 1976, the morning after she won the Oscar for Network. O'Neill said, "She hadn't slept and the implications of a watershed event in her career were only just beginning to dawn on her."

^I was thinking along those lines too.

Faye is an adult, some would say an older woman who should know better (then again, I've never known old age to stop someone from being a jerk). However, Hilary is an adult too and I can only assume wants to be taken seriously as a mature actress in "grown up" roles. Faye's comment was out of line, but it is Hilary who has more to lose and much much more to prove (as an actress) than Faye Dunaway who of course doesn't have anything to prove. Especially if/when this remake flops and she looks like a fool for the low blow, validating Faye's criticism.

Nooo way Hillary, this is just awful man! I agree with Mrs. Dunaway, a real classic actress BTW

and i think that's precisely what hil is afraid of in her own comments. obviously this girl hasn't much confidence in her own ability otherwise she wouldn't have resorted to such a grotesque insults.

hey as i said before i think faye has every reason to be ambivalent. hil hasn't done alot of films that would lead one to deem her viable in this role. had it been cate blanchett or tilda swinton i'm sure she would have said hey, this could be good. and because actors like they, have the substance it would be different.

I totally LOLed when I heard what Hilary had to say. I like that she has balls.

I think Hillary had a right to the 1st half of her comment, where she crossed the line was commenting on Faye's aging look. I mean, let's get real, few of these celebs of our age group have any real acting talent, let along box office brag-fest. Faye has a right to ask her question and wonder why ruin a classic that's timeless.

If Duff was smart or at lease had a decent PR agent next to her, she could've said I respect her point of view and for obvious generational gap, she might not know whether I can act or not. This movie isn't even a replica of the actual film.

Have Hilary Duff's comments actually been verified? Because sometimes the press makes up bs to throw fuel to the fire.

If she really said those things, they are going to come back and slap her in the face when she's older. Faye Dunaway could certainly have been more eloquent in her criticism towards her as well, but Hilary really hit below the belt. If she wants to be taken seriously as an actress, then she has to learn to defend herself in a more dignified and engaging way. It's perfectly fine to have a sharp tongue, but you have to choose your acid-laced remarks wisely. What she said was just vapid. And a vapid girl does not a good actress make.
