I guess we're all clothes whores here so I was just wondering how careful are you actually with your clothes.

Personally when it's the first time I wear something, I swear to god, I am almost nuts, like in the bus, if I have new shoes on, I'll make sure nothing scratches them, if I am wearing a new shirt, I'll make sure not to position myself too near a wall... Etc..... And I won't let anyone wash or iron my clothes for me. Like I have to make sure to read the washing instructions at least 20 times before putting it in the washer and dryer, and I usually end up washing my stuff by hand just to make sure. And if I ever stain my clothes one day, then I'll spend the rest of the day feeling guilty about it and mad.

And if I ever wear something new and somebody drops something on it (well it never happened), I swear I'd be ready to :boxer: that person.

I am so careful about my clothes and stuff, maybe I am just maniac.

What about you?

hahaha.

hmm, I dont know, I've always been some kind of tomboy, I used to hang out with boys rather than girls so I never cared too much about getting my clothes dirty.

I just check the tag of every item and wash it according to the instructions.
I loan most of my clothes..but I do request them back after they used it because I dont want them to wash them or iron them. nonono.

and, hmm, that's basically it with me..I dont have too many expensive stuff but even if I did, I treat my clothes equally...I sit on the sidewalks with anything I'm wearing:huh:

im not that careful with them me being the typical lazy teenager! but i do love them and are gutted if they get ruined!:( but i will always do my best to fix or reinvent them!

dont think my mam likes clothes much though she through my £80 coat out of the door! the most expensive item i own by a long way! i'l go get it in a minute just need to post abit more!:innocent:

I treat most of my clothes with respect. I buy my clothes because of a certain aesthetical value that I see in them, and that value (or care of you will) preserves with wear. So, except the occasional natural sloppiness (damn you, ketchup!!!), I am very careful with my clothes. But I'm also careful with my books, my car, my furniture, etc... It draws on the same value of Quality that I've been talking about in other threads....

I am careful with food and my clothes, me being slightly clumsy and airheaded occasionally but I love to add characteristics to them, however with my favourite jeans i will always be careful with them (until i get my new pair!) :D

I am careful within reason. of course, being a student, I've had more than a couple of ink pen accidents involving pretty new clothes...:ninja: but I really am careful, and like faust said, that carries on into all aspects of my life and possessions... therefore I am pretty obsessive about washing all of my own clothes and have been known to freak out if one of my flatmates puts a load of my laundry in the dryer without telling me. :P
I can't really afford many expensive clothes but at the same time I can't waste money by ruining my cheap ones.

I share a pretty small room with my partner, all our stuff ends up on the floor eventually. But I was like that before I started living with him :innocent: Anything that I get thats new, would usually last a week getting "the hanger VIP treatment" After that, its down on the floor with the rest.

I never usually buy anything thats delicate, but thats just my style. I don't lead that kind of life!

It depends on who made the clothes but ultimately I will be willing to fight a person who messes with them.

Maniacally careful with a new purchase, but with a big dropoff after a month or two of wear

Funny story: does anyone remember the Margiela women's collection from a few years back that featured a lot of clear plastic fused with grey wool? Well, someone I know was wearing one of those plastic-printed pieces and while she was waiting for the train, she heard a perky-yet-concerned voice behind her say, "Oh miss, you've got something on your skirt!" and before she knew it the owner of the voice had grabbed onto the plastic and ripped a nice big strip of it right off. Sometimes it's possible to be too helpful...

Although I don't own a lot of expensive items, I'm very careful with my clothes. Not to the point that I have to constantly watch where I'm walking/standing/sitting etc, but I can never have my clothes lying around on the floor, and I'm quite obsessive about not letting anyone else touch my laundry (I insist me and my bf keep our laundry separate just to make sure he doesn't touch mine :innocent: ). But like Faust and Utopia said, I'm like that with all my things, and apparently I've been that way all my life. When I was little I managed to keep all my books and toys in perfect condition, right until the day my younger sister came along (and tore the heads of my favourite Barbie dolls, and drew in, and chewed pieces off my books  ).

im careful enough... i do not put ANYTHING dainty in the dryer. and i carefully wash everything unless its just casual stuff that cant get ruined by regular wash and dryer routine.

Well I must admit I am like that with new clothes, but after a month or two I am totally careless.

I actually separate my clothes in two categories, I have the last season clothes that I wear whenever I do the groceries, go buy something at the corner store, go out to eat..... If I go out to eat, I am obsessive about wearing something I DON'T LIKE because I have the phobia of dropping food on my clothes and usually, all the food odour from the restaurant ends up on my clothes and it's pretty disgusting, which means I'll have to wash those clothes, and if I wash them, they'll turn uglier faster....... I have a stupid theory I know. Then I have my ''expensive'' clothes which are basically ''TOUCH THEM AND YOU'RE DEAD'' which I wear to go out for a drink, I try to avoid coffee shop when wearing them because I don't want the smoking odours to affect my clothings, also to events, partys and stuff, sometimes for work, school rarely though.

I will put an air freshener in my wardrobre once a week, and beware if you ever enter my bedroom, it's located on the second floor of my house so the odor of fried foods and stuff can't reach them, I always keep my bedroom door and wardrobe closet door closed so they're out of reach from all the smell (if there is any!).

I know it sounds a bit extremed when typed here, but I am not a slave to my clothe, I am just being extra careful, I mean, I don't think about them 24hrs/7 days a week, and I'd never die because I have a stain on my new shirt, I'd just cry. :P

eh most of my clothes are disposible. there are a few pieces i take a lot of care of. but for the most part i don't restrict myself from doing things because of what i'm wearing. i don't jump into mud, but yeah...i think you get my point. i don't really have anything that i'll be keeping forever, besides a watch or two.

not very careful, except in art class. my mom washes my clothes, and she is a very "do it right" washer... hand washes most of my good pieces..

but i am a FANATIC about my good heels...

i always try to take good care of my clothes ... every time i go shopping i get all excited and hang up alll of my clothes all organized and whatnot (i dont keep anything i drawers, for some reason it really annoys me) but im the most haphazard dresser ... my whole room will be clean and organized and then ill get dressed to go out and by the time im ready to leave my entire wardrobe is on the floor ... and thats where it stays until the next major shopping spree comes along ...

i also wash all of my clothes together ... sometimes i seperate colors, but ive never handwashed anything ... i dont know how ... if something cant be thrown in the wash then i take it to the dry cleaners ... i dont think i would even know how to handwash something if i had to ...

i also always lend clothes to people and the forget ... so i lose stuff a lot too ... i wont remember until like years later when it pops into my head ... and its usually too late by then.

OH God, when I can prevent a stain, a naturally blonde black jewish guy will be found on earth

^^^

I'm not at all careful...I'm not going to act crazy about a piece of clothing, expensive or not. I think life's too short to worry about it.

Same goes for cars and other possessions...I feel they're there to be used and if they get damaged in the process then so be it. It shows I love them ^_^
