How careful are you with your clothes?

Not careful at alll! I cut them, rip them, paint them, pin them & draw on them to suit my mood then throw them in a pile on the floor at the end of the day.

i try to be as careful as i can be, but usually i'm not so much so :ninja:
even with my really high profile items. sometimes it all just ends up in a pile either on my bed, or on the floor.

mines usually a pile on the bed that is transferred to a pile on the floor when i want to go to bed at night ... then back to a pile on the bed in the morning ... its a vicious cycle ...

i am kinda uptight about my car though ... i used to not care and then someone hit my pretty car and ruined it ... and i was so sooo sad ... i also had to drive a smelly rental for a week ... so now im soo paranoid when parking ... im one of those strange folks who parks like as far from other cars as possible ... one time i even got up in the middle of the night ... left my apartment building and went down to the street to get my car and put it in a parking garage because i had a dream someone keyed it ... thats like me hugest fear ... my car getting keyed ... i would cry for days ...

 I try to be careful, I really do, but somehow it never seems to work :ninja: :P

Ever since I have had kids, I dont worry as much. I tend not to wear the good stuff till my hubby and I are alone doing something together.

im awful...... things do not last with me !! i really need to be more orginized and carful with my clothes.

I treat my clothes almost exactly the way Kimkhuu does. And like Faust, I'm very careful with books and things of that sort, as well.

...my clothes could tell you their own opinions from the heap theyr in on my floor :P i've got my accessories in order though

It totally depends on how much I have paid for the item, and the length of time I've had it. I tend to take very good care of my clothes...and I would put everything in the dry cleaners, If I could.

fastidious

Im pretty careful with mine. I also trust the expert tailor and dry cleaner right around the corner. the difference between quality dry cleaning and cheap crap is substantial in the look & long term care of pricey clothes.
I also believe in treating my shoes extra well. immediately upon buying a new pair of tod's or gucci, my 1st stop is to the cobbler where i get toe & heel taps before I ever wear them. I also like to get my shoes polished & cleaned about every 2 months if Im wearing them a lot or at least once a year for less favourite shoesies. and of course to sustain worthy shoes one should get new heels once or twice a year and even soles if needed on shoes that one intends to wear & love. needless to say you better have a cobbler you know & trust if youre letting him work on shoes that cost $500 and/or vintage styles that say, gucci or bally may never make again. I am constantly frustrated shopping at bally or gucci or tods that all my fave styles have been replaced with an inferior new version. even the classic gucci horsebit slip on is differnet now, its all chunky compared to the versions I bought in the 90s.

I wish I could say I am as concerned about my clothes as some of you evidently are. But in all seriousity, I am awful. My excuse (and I know there is just not perfeectly good excuse) is that I am a college student and therefor just have no time on my hands to pamper my clothes when I have barely time to pamper me! Of course I still cry buckets when something gets ruined and then I snap. It's clothes after all. Pretty things will always come by.:flower:

I'm pretty careful but I'm not obsessive. I do take good care of my bags and shoes and everything is clean and tidy at all times. Just as I was untying a scarf the other day I noticed a fleck of balsamic vinegar on it and fairly jumped in the car for Hermes to send it off to New York to be cleaned. Eeek!

I'm actually very caring about my clothes and accessories. I clean and polish shoes (and bags) if they need it. I load my wardrobes with lavender to protect wools and fur. I always fold or hang things properly when I take them off and put shoe trees in shoes. I'm very conscious about how everything should be washed and dried.

Otoh, I dress in the morning and forget about being careful until I undress at night. I'm not self-conscious and worried about ruining my stuff if I do something I shouldn't. I practically never iron anything. I sometimes wash things wrong. A white cotton shirt which says 30° handwash is just ridiculous, it goes into the 40° or even 60° machine like other whites. Never had a problem, manufacturers sometimes like to understate the care labels to protect themselves IMHO.

My cardinal rules: I don't dump bags on the ground/floor and I try to avoid walking in puddles, that's about it.

i hate loaning clothes. i have such irresponsible friends:angry: and more than one bad experience.
i do my best to take care of things during the day, and as far as washing goes, im pretty standard, but i have been known to let piles of clean clothes sit forever and get wrinkled beyond recognition:ninja:

hahaha.

hmm, I dont know, I've always been some kind of tomboy, I used to hang out with boys rather than girls so I never cared too much about getting my clothes dirty.

I just check the tag of every item and wash it according to the instructions.
I loan most of my clothes..but I do request them back after they used it because I dont want them to wash them or iron them. nonono.

and, hmm, that's basically it with me..I dont have too many expensive stuff but even if I did, I treat my clothes equally...I sit on the sidewalks with anything I'm wearing:huh:
I'm like that too

the other day i was wearing my favorite helmut lang tie and in a horrible freak accident a gust of wind blew it into my cigarette and it caught some ash. i immediately drove it to the dry cleaner but they cleaned it too harshly and pressed the sh*t out of it and it looks awful now (the lesson here being never send a fine tie to medicore cleaners). i'm still livid about it. i've had nightmares about some of my really nice clothes getting destroyed. i've got to stop writing about this it's stressing me out too much...

^Oh my gosh. That's why I'm never taking anything to be dry cleaned.

im not carefull at all. Although as soon as clothes look taty get a small stain or scratch ill throw themout. I never wear scruffy clothes.

So is it true that Fabric Softner isn't good for your clothes (because it "breaks" them down...one of my colleagues said this to me last night in one of our conversation about our careers).
