How careful are you with your clothes?

i am careful to a certain extent---especially if it's something new. but i always wind up messing up the end of jeans.

i got a hole in the end of my marc jacobs cords but it's ok---marc by marc jacobs style is naturally kind of grungy so it doesn't really matter to me much.

i guess i'd rather wear something that's a little beat up (but still cool) frequently than hardly ever wear a thing that's in perfect condition.

I'm really careful, I handwash most everything or send it to the good cleaners- coupons attached- and I get freaked out if something gets mussed up. However, I like dyeing clothes and I like customising everything! But I am the queen of the iron and spray starch! I love my clothes too much to have them destroyed by not caring for them properly... And I am beyond neurotic with the car too- but that's what comes with driving around a $65,000 automobile, although I took great care of every other one of my cars too! I also intensely dislike things that are stained or ripped. Every season, I clean my clothes that are going to be put away for a while and do all the repairs and whatnot. I just finished the repairs on the summer clothes and I'm working on cleaning what needs to be cleaned! Bring on the fall season!

I'm pretty carefull with my clothes, it used to be worse. When somebody would touch me a year or so ago I would freak out, but now a days I'm just really carefull, but I'm not gonna totally flip when someone touches me.

I'm pretty careful, but the other day I wrote in ballpoint pen on my boob... on a tissue thin white kaftan :ninja:

Bah I always do things like that Prep! they must just get in the way

Mine are all scattered on my floor at the moment....

OH God, when I can prevent a stain, a naturally blonde black jewish guy will be found on earth

I have seen a naturally blond black guy ...

Before reading this, I would have said I'm careful, but compared to some of you guys, no ...

I take my clothes to the best cleaners in town--wash a few cotton things myself, but not much. Most of what I wear out of the house goes to the cleaners, and most of what I launder myself stays in the house. I hate to iron and *never* iron clothes. When I was in college the preppy thing was in and I would get up and iron a cotton blouse at 5:15 am before my commute to my 8:00 class my freshman year. I promised myself that as soon as I could afford it, it was all going to the cleaners and I would never lift an iron again. And so it was.

I don't buy cheap stuff--I buy everything from moderately priced to designer, and I expect it to perform. I'm careful if it's raining or there are puddles on the ground, but otherwise I go about my life and expect my clothes to be able to handle it, with support from the award-winning dry cleaners.

The one thing I try to be careful about is what I'm wearing when I order pasta with tomato sauce. But because I don't think about this stuff all the time, I often forget. That's where the cleaners come in :innocent:

Maniacally careful with a new purchase, but with a big dropoff after a month or two of wear

Funny story: does anyone remember the Margiela women's collection from a few years back that featured a lot of clear plastic fused with grey wool? Well, someone I know was wearing one of those plastic-printed pieces and while she was waiting for the train, she heard a perky-yet-concerned voice behind her say, "Oh miss, you've got something on your skirt!" and before she knew it the owner of the voice had grabbed onto the plastic and ripped a nice big strip of it right off. Sometimes it's possible to be too helpful...

:o ...
:hardhead:

I should be more careful..today my nose was bleeding and I had blood drops onto my new jeans  Any way I could get them away? Cold water?

I believe cold water *sets* blood ...

No, cold water is what to use, warm sets it!

I'm not really careful when I'm wearing my clothes i.e. I'll happily eat spaghetti bolognese whilst wearing my MJ white dress. But then I'll start fretting once there's a stain or a heel needs fixing. I have really high dry cleaning bills and I visit my shoe guy at least twice a month.

Wow! I wish I was that organized at this point  Good job :flower:

^_^ This is a great story! And so it was  One nice thing about living in humidity... you ALMOST never have to iron. Not one of my favorite chores either...

I'm pretty careful, too. I handwash all my cashmere & delicates. Have searched the neighborhood for the BEST drycleaner and wash everything else on the delicate cycle with lingerie wash that has a stain remover. I also invested in a FANtastic energy efficient washer & dryer  I recommend it. We invest too much in our wardrobes to let an underpar washer or dryer tear them apart!!

I got myself this *very* unusual Dior Homme suit lately that is wool gabardine with very fine polyester threads woven into the surface that would make it shimmer heavily once light is cought on the surface. Needless to say, it´s a very fragile piece as threads might peel away from the surface... To be honest, most of my clothes are very undemanding in terms of care (my shirts usually don´t need to be ironed and I barely ever wear something else than jeans, t-shirt, a blazer and trainers) but with this suit, I´ve started to change my habits slowly as I would probably ruin it like this in an instant... I´m probably a bit over-protective with it now, since I got myself a light overcoat to wear on top when I have to catch a subway (OMG, it could get damaged in the crowd!) or when I might get cought in the rain... I also started to avoid wearing a messenger bag with it and always have a closer look what I am sitting on... VERY strange! :ninja:

I send my good stuff only to the best dry cleaners, and handwash delicates. Other stuff I wash in cool water with mild detergent either in net bags or as is and air-dry on hangers. I must be growing up or something, because I don't even mind ironing now and then.

However, by now I know myself too well to allow this girl to wear fragile stuff on a day-to-day basis. One can never tell when she may suddenly decide to sit on the sidewalk, climb a tree, wade in the mud or do yoga on the grass...:o Life is too short to let clothes spoil the fun! :P Pretty much save my heels and nice stuff for special occasions.

By the way indie, an excellent way to loosen blood spots is your own saliva! B)

i allways wash my own clothes i never let my parents do it, i spend way to much money for my mum to accidently put a dior coat in the wash when its dry clean only  i'm getting freaked out at the thought

^ That's a great (if a bit cruel) tip for wornout parents who are tired of doing the laundry... "Accidentally" wash something the wrong way and you'll never be trusted again...

 My brother knows that trick all too well! He flubbed dinner to get out of that chore, too. Have to admit it was fairly brilliant!

i always wash my own clothes coz my mum always put them in the washing machine >.<
