Well, whether your clothes fit well or not isn't a function of your weight, its down to what size you buy and whether or not shops cater for your size and shape.
The implication of a lot of the comments so far -that the heavier you are, the more ill-fitting your clothes will be -is just wrong. Perhaps the heavier you are, the less your clothes will fit like models' -but just because that fit's held up as the ideal, doesn't mean it is.
I'm petite and quite boyish -no hips, no real waist -and I think some of my heavier friends look much better in their clothes. Partly, because I like curves (don't we always like what we don't have?) and also because I find that lots of clothes on the UK highstreet are cut for pear shapes.
I look better when I'm at a healthy weight -and when I've exercised and am toned -because most of the clothes I have are bought for me at my normal shape. Of course, when I thicken out a bit (during term time at uni, normally) my clothes don't fit as well because they're not the right shape or cut for my larger self.
I do think it's true that at the larger sizes it's harder to find clothes that fit well -there seems to be more variation in shape in the larger sizes (we all have similar skeletons, it's the flesh and muscle on top of that that changes our shape, so the more you have the more variation) which isn't catered for. The solution is to make better clothes, not necessarily lose the weight if it's not a health issue.
