How Do You Walk In High Heeled Shoes?

for stilletos:
walk toe heel. if you concentrate your weight on the heel then that's where the broken ankles come in, you force all your weight down onto the small surface area of the heel and if often happens unevenly, thus creating the trip that hurts you. just focus your weight to the balls of your feet.
your feet will uhually hurt after wearing stilletos and some heels because you are not used to putting weight on that part of your foot. in flats or high heels that have a bigger base than stillettos then walking heel-toe is not a problem.

i find it too hard to think about how to walk when im in heels it makes it so much harder. it just put them on and prey i dont look like im walking like a man in them:lol:

Its werid ive wore heals since i was about 10 i took to them like a duck to water, ive always walked fine in them... so its hard to explain, just practice i would say

exactly how do you mean "toe heel"? you can't put the toe down before the heel, that would look totally wrong, and you would only be able to take baby steps.

pointy toed heels always hurt my feet! but i've heard about something called 'foot petals'...has anyone ever used them and do they really work?

Pointies are probably fine for people whose feet aren't shaped like mine - on me, they just hurt, and foot petals were no help at all.

One thing DOES work: boots that have a tight instep. That can keep your foot from sliding forward into that fiendish little funnel of a toe! B)

Eh... I wouldn't say it's heel to toe or toe to heel.

I'd say it's more like... heel/ball of foot to toe... you dont want to clack your heels around too much... might cause them to warp over time... or break them... or whatver...

I've tried walking toe to heel in heels.. it just looks stupid and feel even more stupid.

Heels don't have to hurt or be uncomfortable if you practice and buy good shoes

whenever i wear mine, it hurts like hell after about 3 hours, especially the balls of my feet!! i dont know whether its the shoe or me, because i only have one pair

It just takes wearing them a little bit to let your calves adjust to the different angle. the only other thing is heels never have enough padding under the ball of the foot, and thats where all your pressure is. Whenever i get a new pair of shoes, I take them to a shoe repair shop, and have pads put in under the ball of the foot. I also have a rubber grip put on the bottom, good quality shoes always seem to come with leather soles, and they are very slick.

Hi,
Get those heels on and get walking! Work through the pain!
Seriously, I used to hate wearing heels but as they came more and more into fashion I found that most other women at work were wearing them and I felt I just had to join them to look smart and professional. So I started with boots with a 4-inch heel. They really hurt at first. I used to get a burning sensation in the balls of my feet. But I was determined to keep going. So I just made myself wear them to work where I couldn't take them off until I got home even if my feet were sore. Although they still hurt a bit now I feel so much better in them. They make my posture good and make me feel so much more confident. I just can't imagine giving a presentation withourt having my heels on now!
So my advice basically is, yes they will hurt at first, but keep going through the pain. The results are worth it!!
Good luck,
Charlotte

i've been wearing high heels everyday these months. and I'm deeply scared that i'm ruining my feet. ButIjust can't stand feeling short, heels give me so much more confidence.

Anyway, the sides of my feet have been a little sore, near the ankle. Has anyone else had this? or know the reason/solution for this? (other than I should give my heels a rest).

for those of you that have been asking about the pain..the thicker the heel, the less pain there will be. But the skinnier they are the more beautiful the shoe looks too..sigh.. However, i never worry about going clubbing/a night out with skinny stilettos..because after you have a few drinks, you won't feel a thing! (I never get wobbly in them either =p)

i think when your walking in heels, its all about your confidence! if you think and worry to much about it it gets harder!! if you just walk how you normally, do, hold your head high and walk without much thought, it should just come! (i lernt this myself, as i only owned my first pair of heels 3 months ago lol:))

ohh and also, i dont belive you walk toe heel as some people have said, more like heel ball of you foot, toes, as if you walk toe first your legs look bent and you look akwid and tend to lean forward. i know models walk heel first, or so ive been told

ALL >>> taken from 30 years of experience (yes I am an "old broad")

WALKING : SHORT (!!) steps PLEASE! weight on front of foot.

PAIN: sizing is everything. heel shape is not the chief issue. SIZING is. Shoes must fit precisely, width as well as length, and esp. at the inner edge of the toe box -- your toe bone at its joint CANNOT rub up against the inner edge, it's like putting a knife blade to your joint. The leather MUST be supple. Stiff Louboutin shoes need not apply.

If my shoes fit right I can walk in them all day long. If they do not fit right (in all dimensions) I can't walk in them for a minute.

HEEL HEIGHT: I can walk in heels up to 5 inches, but beyond 4 1/2 inches requires even shorter steps and PERFECT fit. I prefer not to wear heels higher than 4 1/2 inches (five only with a platform, like the Louboutin Gwenissima and YoYO Zeppa). Your upper heel limit will likely differ.

Any questions, PM me if you like.

That's fantastic advice! You're so right about the shorter steps. I actually just bought a pair of T-strap, satin fuschia pink, close and round-toed stilettos by J-Lo (Wow. a mouthful to say, huh?) I think the stiletto is about 4-4.5 in and I'm definitely finding myself walking "toe-heel" because you're just so high up in the air. I know this is a posting on how to walk, but would you have any idea how to match something to this gorgeous pair?
