How Much Can an AVERAGE Model Expect to Get Paid? (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

I think the 10,000 is referring to her day rate and that is feasible for the very top models. But for most models it's a lot less. In the US, for good agency models it's about $1,500 a day or $150 and hour with a minimum of 2 or 3 hours.

And then the client pays a commission on top of that ... usually about 20% (And the model pays a commission too, also about 20% ... so the agency keeps 40% of whatever rate they negotiate with the client).

Even relativally newer models can make 10 grand a day if they've got the right clients on their side.

Book a job with a top catalogue client and you're banking 10 000 a day, even as a new face.

There's already a thread like this, btw.

Is there? Sorry, I couldn't find it. Could a mod possibly merge the threads?

The reason I am asking is because I would love to photograph one of these 'top' models, or closest things to them; Snejana, Doutzen, etc. I met Coco Rocha on Thursday as she was in Toronto and I was just stunned by her beauty. The first thing that came to mind was "I would looove to photograph her!". So I guess any model whose ranking you can associate with Coco's are the type of models I'm referring to. I know Coco is with Elite, I called them and know exactly who to contact. I don't want to sound oblivious before contacting her rep so I was just looking for an idea of the price range.

I have access to a very well equipped photography studio through the Academy that I am attending. We are located in the CBC and Fashion Television building so all equipment is withing reach. Basically, I would love to do an interview/portfolio shoot to go along with it.

Now, I have gotten the $10, 000 mark which I could never do...
$1, 500ish was also mentioned - very doable.

Can anyone narrow it further down?

i just found it and was coming here to merge...

Do I !!!!

In a nutshell

Editorials pay very little
Day rates depend on a model's demand
Catalog is damn good money
......and campaigns are the gold at the end of the rainbow:lucky:

In my opinion editorials should be paid A LOT more. It's so much effort to shoot them and it would be fair to get at least a bit money out of this..I really don't get this. In every other job you're paid your working hours too.

I think they see it as a free "advertisement" for the models, just like the clothes. Editorials are great for building a girls book and leads the way to a great show season and hopefully a campaign.

Yeah I know but when you're a model you also need to pay your expenses and not just working for building your book. And you never know if you'll ever get a campaign...You know what I mean?

how much in Milan?

I would love to do an interview/portfolio shoot to go along with it.

for similar shot situations, even if I'm more interested in creating books or web publishing, and the same supermodels or just a little bit less "big" but at similar beauty level, how much I have to pay in Milan? will be the same price on location?

Sorry if this was asked before, but how much do models make for one runway show? Obviously, I would imagine that it depends on what show/designer it's for. I'm guessing in the thousand range? And I would also imagine high profile models like Stam and Sasha would get paid much more than your regular model...?

There is a long discussion on this back in this thread....the bigger you are the better the pay....and in some of the shows...new faces work for nothing or clothes.

a begginers in milan get about 1000 - 5000euros for runways on MFW
for editorials it is much less money, but u cannot get a show without a good book.

I do mostly catalog work and promotional things and I make an alright amount of money as a full time student...

Granted I can't take every job or go on all the castings I'm put up for because of my classes, but the promotional work pays about $35/hour and I got a catalog job that paid $1,000/day for three days last spring and I'm a nobody in Boston!

To be fair though, this isn't my career...I'm just modeling on the side while I'm in school.

Expenses are generally paid for by your agency (airfare, hotel, model apartment) which ends of being paid back. That is the whole point of this industry, they sign girls who they see as being successful. Not just filling up the board to say that they have models. Agencies take a risk when they sign a girl, so it is a huge investment for them. That is why so many girls do the grunt work of editorial because it is supposed to lead to other things. Whether or not that happens is kind of left up to chance and what the industry is in the mood for at the moment.

I know how everything works LostInNY, I'm model myself
And well it's not true agencies pay for your expenses because after your stay everything has to be paid back. Which means if you don't have enough money in your account from jobs you need to pay it your own. That's why 99% of all models complain about the bad payment for editorials and some other jobs because we need to get enough money in our accounts to pay our expenses, otherwise you have to pay it your own. And when you're on stay you've plenty of expenses!!!
Of course it's an honour being chosen for an editorial, but hey they should be paid (better)! In nearly no other job you work for hours just for image.
