This strap is flawed. The leather should be continuous throughout the strap.

This is inaccurate...The strap has a gap in the auths as well. The strap is made as one long strap, threaded into the chain, and then the leather is folded over on each end and sewn back on itself.

Agreed!!! I have an authentic maxi....the leather is not continuous. I know it's auth 'cause I bought it myself at Chanel! LOL

Should a Caviar Jumbo/Maxi have visible stitching down the strap though? I thought it should be but I can't seem to get a definitive answer about that bit....

When examining the leather strap, make sure it is a long single continuous piece of leather folded together on either the side or in the middle.

ZenEssence, Mine is leather folded on the side, which mean Fang Fang got it right. What it meant by continuous leather is simply that the remainder of the strap is continuous, not several pieces put together.

And it comes with authenticity card and box.

I have! I'm pretty sure Taobao sellers are safe, it's a little more like eBay then iOffer. However, I asked Catty to purchase a item for me since the seller didn't speak English, I wanted 1 package, and she obliged. Turned out her and the seller lived in the same town and she actually bought wholesale from the seller and added the item to her site. Of course she exaggerated the price. I like to find out if sellers on ioffer have Taobao for a fuller, cheaper shopping experience.

ZenEssence, your jumbo looks excellent! Congrats. I was going to agree with the other ladies, that only vintage Chanel has one strip of leather throughout the chain length. Newer Chanel started using more than one and started using glue as opposed to the stitch on many models, probably to cut costs/time somewhere.

I understand Jumbos/Maxi should be stitched (carry the longer strap and larger bag), but medium flaps now all have glue & fold and reinforcing stitch every 3-4 chain holes. The authentic 09 maxi caviar does have the visible stitching sewn down one side of the strap - I've seen one irl - FYI there's a sold one up on malleries with close-up. hth.

Hi all, I've got a question about NBF's coin purses that might be a little silly, but I hope someone can help.

Are the giant hardware CPs meant to look different from the RH ones? NBF's Sang, Turquoise and Noix CPs all with giant hardware look like they don't have the extra 1/2" of leather sewn around the top.

But their Bois de Rose in GSH has this extra strip of leather - is this wrong? Should all giant hardware CPs have no extra strip of leather around the top?

I just ordered the 2010 Anthracite Day GSH from T & D a few days ago. Does anyone have experience with the Anthracite color from them? Does it look like the authentic Anthracite?

My authentic Chanels does not have a break in the middle of the chain with the leather like that. From the Malleries photo above, it seems that the link has been repaired, open, loose or something...I don't know.

I know my authentic Maxi does because I couldn't believe it when I first saw it! I didn't expect it....

Yes, mine is continuous also but, it is glued up to the next link. There is no break in it, and folded down. If it is like this with the brand new ones, that's a different story, and I didn't know that. I mainly prefer the vintage ones, and that's why it may be different.

Also, Catty's flaps have the store tag on them. I was just wondering if Fang's came with them also.

I suppose it is still possible to learn something new each day. I have seen this on Catty's flaps as well, and wasn't quite sure if this was a flaw or not. I appreciate this new information, thank you all

I think anything before 2009 (or 2010?)does not have the space between the top and the zipper panel. So their BDR is correct to have the space.

^with.the.band - the colors in the new style for CP (with the strip) for GSH are up on the Bal site under small accessories - as Devon says, BdR is one of them. The black still is in the original style.
