Is Bare Minerals Worth Buying?

My problem with Bare Minerals is that it does not travel well. I took it with me over the holiday and this morning when I went to use it about half of the powder was in the lid- such a MESS! Does anyone have any suggestions for how to travel with this better?
My BM makeup travels constantly due to the fact that I usually put it on on the train in the morning (it's a 40 minute ride, and this saves me 15 minutes at home).

Because of this there is always some amount of the product in the upper part of the container (on top of the lid with the holes in it). I have to tap on the lid of the warmth container for a minute to get the powder to fall down into the jar before I open it. Otherwise I would get way to much in my brush, and look like this: . With the foundation and mineral veil this isn't really a problem because I use up the amount of product that is in the lid anyway. I should add that I use the smaller size packages for carrying around like this.

I've been using BM for a few months now I like it, but like many have said, some days it just doesn't cover enough.

Also it isn't really made for my putting-on-makeup-on-the-train-routine, but that won't be an issue as soon I move closer to work. :innocent:

Where can you buy bare minerals in the UK, London preferably?
1karina1 hqhair.com (uk retailer) sells it online - but they also have a store :
HQ hair & beautystore
2 New Burlington Street, London W1S 2JE

This is a silly question, but...you know how airports are being very strict right now with what you can have in your carry-on bags? Well, I am travelling to NY tomorrow and only want to bring a carry-on with me. I will have my makeup in there, and I was wondering if BE is "safe" to bring on...or will they take it away from me?!

You should call and ask if you are worried, but as far as the only-one-deciliter-containers-in-one-one-liter-ziplock-bag rule goes BM should be the perfect travel makeup theses days, since it's not liquid. Your mascara has to go in that ziplock bag, as I've understood it. :ninja:

The Flawless Face Case or the refillable compact help keep the minerals in place & out of the lid. It has a flip top that secures all the makeup in the case. I love the second one below because it also has a mirror.

btw for those of you that have tried the Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil, what did you think about it?

Actually, both compacts come with a mirror :flower:

As for the Mineral Veil, I think it's absolutely necessary if you're using BE foundation. It sets it and makes the coverage look more natural :flower:

Ooh, thanks! I guess I was a bit confused. I'll be sure to order the mineral veil next time now.

i've just bought the Bare Minerals starter kit in Fairly Light. The lady at Sephora put it on me and it looked great. I hope when I put it on it looks just as great!

Bare Minerals is the best make up I have ever tried! I will never ever go back to another brand, and I doubt many will after first trying it.. You only need a tiny amount to cover redness etc, and it looks super natural. As long as you work it into the skin and don't apply too much, it looks great. It gets better during the day, as it melts more into the skin - at least that's my experience.

It can seem a little expensive, but it's really worth it, because it's soo good for the skin and comfortable to wear. It's an investment:smile:

I just don't like mineral makeup, sorry. It doesn't cover enough for me. I like liquid and always will

I must say that I've been using BE for like 6months now and I will never use something else. My skin is glowing, I love the healthy look it gives me.
It's now available in France at Sephora, fabulous.

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but a few days ago, Sephora's BE page was completely blank, and you could not click on any items. I had a temporary freak out because I was worried that they were going to stop carrying the line. Everything seems to be status quo now.

I was flip flopping back and forth b/t BE and Bobbi Brown liquid foundation for awhile, but I am back in love with BE yet again. It truly is amazing.

I think I am the reason they have it in NYC now. I used to deliberately plan my flights to stop over in Atlanta, just so I could pick up make up in their boutique. Everyone asks how I have such good skin. Also good for sleep overs and not waking up looking crusty. lol
Also, I carry mine right in my purse, no one has stopped me. They did stop me for my lipgloss though...

I recently bought the Beyond the Basics kit from Sephora and am obsessed with it. I get so excited to do my makeup in the morning when I use BE. I think I am definitely addicted hardcore.

In the winter, i have such dry skin and i find that when i'm too lazy to exfoliate, bm looks horrible on. Before using bm, i'd cheat and mix moisturizer & foundation together, but not w/ this stuff.. I still love it though. Another thing i found is that when you start running out of the powders.. it gets harder and harder to get to.. and i wish i could pull off the top shaker part b/c i see a good amount still in there that i could use.

Even though this stuff seems to last forever, when I was running out of my first jar of foundation, I wished that I could also take the top off. I still saw a bit more in there but none of it was coming out. I banged the hell out of it! I think they will do something about their packaging before too long because many people seem to have some negatives to say about it.

You can get the cover off! You just need to stick a bobby pin (or something of similair size) into one of the holes and pry it out. That's how I get the last of my powder-lovin'.

Hey, thanks! I'll have to try that tonight. I am just about finished with my foundation and don't have time to hit Sephora until Friday.

On that note, I should really just sign up for the auto-shipments. It would be so much easier. I just hate being stuck with it when I don't need it yet. They seem to send it faster than I am usually ready for it!
