Another Jamaican will be in New York this fashion week, strutting down the catwalk for world-famous designers. Newly added to the list of "stars" is Chevonese Fender, Pulse alumni recently snapped up by Boss Models. Here's to hoping for a great season.

The Fabulous 9 - The Jamaican Invasion?
Show season is on in full force and once more the Jamaican contingent is out in their numbers. By my tally, a total of 9 Jamaican girls have received that all important nod from their agencies in the form of showcards and one can only hope they book everything in their wake.
Perhaps the most famous name this season is the high flying Jeneil Williams who was everywhere this year. From opening the Deisel Gold F/W show to appearing in Vogue, we expect nothing but blue chip runway bookings for this girl. Perennial favourite Gaye McDonald, who was noticeably missing from last seasons shows, is also making her reappearance; this year though she's represented by a new agency, IMG, and not by Elite. The long limbed Raschelle and Moschino campaign girl Sigail also make reappearances in NY for S/S 10, fresh from their stints in South Africa and London respectively. It is also important to note is that 2 girls are actually making their debut in NYC; the exotic Chevonese Fender and and the leggy gamine Shena Moulton, who at 15yo stands at a fabulous 5'11". Shena, recently featured on the model gawker site TO2W, had tongues-a-waggaing long before she set foot into the city so she is definitely one to look out for.
Now it's no secret that Jamaicans are fierce walkers so if I were a casting director in NYC right now I would make sure that there's at least one Jamaican in my show...maybe two to be greedy
. So it begs the question...is this really a Jamaican invasion? Well it certainly seems that way.
