Jean Paul Gaultier S/S 2015 Paris

Yep, the woman in bangs is Elisabeth Djian. Not Alt like I thought...

This is just so fun. Gaultier has a wicked sense of humor and brings so much levity to an industry that takes itself way too seriously. Fashion needs more Gaultier love childs than dull offsprings of Raf and Phoebe. I always love his take on le smoking. Amelyne's outfit is so chic and cool. Sucks than Anna decided to attend Clooney's wedding instead of attending this show. A Gaultier Anna Wintour would have been hilarious.

^ I kept looking for Wintour too. What an incredibly fun show to watch, this is one of those shows where you just wish you were part of the gang.

I finally got to watch the video and the show was amazing from the music to the models. The clothes were actually quite nice too he's a master at creating classic statement pieces

Loved how crazy everything was. So much fun and energy! And on top of everything, the clothes were great! He definitely went out with a bang and I'm going to miss his RTW shows. Glad he's still doing couture though; I think we can expect his couture shows to be even bigger now that he's fully focused on them.

Thanks Fatale for the HD upload.

I was hoping Jean-Paul would pull another "Tattoo You" or "Rabbi Chic", or "Harlem Renaissance", or that amazing Latin-America ode to Frida Kahlo and Marilyn Manson-- hell, any one of his shows pre-2005 that transported his audience to another place, time and plane, to show everyone how to really put on a vision, one last time, would be greatly welcomed for me.

This is more Eurovision/ Eurotrash/ Rupaul's Drag Race in mood for my liking...

Oh well, it's still fun like a smashed New Year's Eve bash. And that's something Gaultier has always had with his fashions and shows; a sense of fun-- and unity.

The opener of Men/Women and the Smoking section are a worthy presentations of Gaultier's mad professor tailoring skills. The other parts are... too campy, kitschy and cheap-looking for me. Gaultier's way, way, way better than that. But, it's his closing chapter to a part of his career, and he deserves to go out the way he wants: I'd just prefer the multiculturally-rich, otherworldly-resplendent, and strangely and oddly-beautiful side of him rather than the campy, kitschy, draggy, pop/trash culture side.

I couldn't agree more.

This was a spectacular, well-produced presentation. I really appreciate how archival pieces were only touched upon and not rehashed into a full-fledged retrospective collection. Not his strongest work in terms of clothing, but his body of work far supersedes what became of his ready-to-wear towards the end. The looks on Vanessa Axente and Sasha Luss takes its cues from the S/S & A/W '88 collections. The corset dresses on Coco Rocha and Anna Cleveland are shortened revisions of a dress shown in the S/S 2010 collection, a reworking of the corset dresses of S/S '87. And he's been doing the half-jackets/suits as far back as '84. It's nice to see some those things here again, albeit in a watered down and pretty throwaway form. Though I suppose it doesn't even matter any more. Gaultier had a great run while it lasted, and his work surely paved the way for designers like Tisci, McQueen and Galliano to even have a voice within the industry; so for that reason, I'll miss his ready-to-wear.

Curious to see how the haute couture progresses now that he has a smaller workload.

Bravo! Very well put!

I really hope I can get my hands one a Gaultier suit one day, I'll miss his RTW but thank goodness he's still doing couture, he's always my favorite during couture week and now it will only get better!
