Jeans Tucked Into Boots?

I bought some great chunky sweaters and a couple long ones for belting, and know that this look goes well with skinny jeans tucked into tall boots. I'm 45 and wonder if that look is too young for me. I'm pretty confident in my dressing and don't mind pushing it, but I don't want to look silly. I'm in OK shape with hips that could maybe stand to be a little trimmer. Any thoughts? If I AM too old, can you suggest an alternative bottom for these sweaters? Thanks!

Hi,
I am also 45 and will be wearing my skinnies and leggings tucked into my boots. Like you, I am in good shape and work hard to be fit. I wear a 4-6 size and am tall so that helps, but all that aside, I really don't think it is chronological age as much as it is biological, as well as confidence level. You seem to have the confidence to do it....so I say, indeed, go for it! Forty five is the new 30!

i don't think that jeans tucked into boots is a particularly young look...
i know many women 50+ who wear this....
it's very classic actually...
think of horseback riding...
jodphurs and boots...

this is not an age related thing...
and it really transcends trends...
it happens to be 'trendy' right now...
but even when the trend fades...
it will still be a good look...imo...

^Agreed..... obviously, the look is dependent on the boots and jeans in question but the look you have described, JerriQ sounds very classic.

my mum does this all the time, she looks good :) why not? i don't see it as a very young thing at all.

In some cases this look looks better on older women then the teens running around trashing the whole outfit with too many trends on top of it. So I say go for it!

If 45 is the new 35, and age is just a state of mind, then you should have no problem with chunky sweaters with skinny jeans tucked into boots... Why dont you take it to the next level, and go for the belted chunky sweater + spandex look... and send me a polaroid... and 40 bucks.

Like most trends I think it depends if it looks good on YOU. My mother is 43 years old and thin too but I still think she would look ridiculous in jeans tucked into boots whiles she looks great in other trends.

I agree with a lot of you guys...
it depends on the boots

choose gumboots? Of course it's not too old!

This look can transcend all ages, but here are my pointers...

- Choose a pair of boots that are flat or with a thicker heel (i.e. these Michael Kors)

(niemanmarcus)

- have the right body type... usually only people of a certain weight go for this look, in my experience

- keep it simple on top...

Just what I think I will go with if I was 43 years old :)

Terrific feedback, thank you. The boots I am thinking of are cuffed, something like these Steven boots from Zappos: http://tinyurl.com/zr8ac
I like the cuffed boot because I think it would also do well with a lot of my skirts. Or, do you think the cuff puts it over the Trendy threshold?

it's nice...but def less classic...
a bit pirate-y...but maybe you like that?...

:p

Are they "piratey?" I've certainly seen that reference to the cuff thing but really just liked it as a fun embellishment. I also hoped to experiment with flipping them up. Or.....??

I dont think there is an age limit to anything. I think as long as you feel confidant and comfortable thats all that matters.

yeah exactly. It's all about personal style. If you normally dress in 'mom jeans' from Walmart and then all of a sudden, do an about face, then it might look off.

I'm going to go against everyone else on this thread though and say i'm quite frankly a bit tired of jeans tucked into boots. It may be a riding classic, but it's been popular now for 2+ years and quite frankly I'm ready for a break. I would wear the skinny jeans with flats or a cool chunky heel.

Age is only a number, here your look is important, so why not? ;)

Except 60 something ladies wearing sweet 16 tanktop and tight pants. :ninja:

go for it. i think you should always wear what you want to wear. i like the black boots, but i would prefer them without the turn on the upper part...

i dont see why not! Dont be afraid to wear something you really want to!

I think the outfit sounds great. And 45 is not old at all. Perhaps try a flat boot to start with and then onto a boot with a slightly chunkier heel. Whatever you choose as long as it makes you happy and you feel good. :flower:

boots to tuck jeans in

I need to buy boots (underknee length) so that I can tuck my jeans into them. do they have to differ from usual boots or are there some features that distinguish them from usual boots?
