Jeans Tucked Into Boots

I think it not only depends on the boots but much more on the physique of the person.

Last winter I saw many women wearing this look her ein germany who looked like a "stuffed sausage", which is also not a really nice view.

Well particularly in the posted runway picture of a man doing the look, I must say that I do not like it at all. At the very least he looks like he's on his way to work in some kind of rain boats and will change as soon as he gets there, or let's hope so.

I think it generally looks really bad on those with short and or thick legs, but it's not to say that it can't be done. Those people most definitely need heeled boots. In many cases it's just practical.

agree. to pull that look off you need to be a little taller and slender built imo

love that look in winter, but i don't get the point of people are wearing boots when it's hot outside.

It was only an example, which wasn't well (but fast) chosen. It was just the "next best picture" because it is quite difficult to find pictures showing guys wearing this look or a similar one.

I think what rangerrick14 has in mind is a look similar to this one I found on flickr from last winter.

Another example of a guy wearing jeans tucked into boots that I dislike is this one from D&G Mens S/S 10 Milan:

Not so sure about that second one, but whoever that first guy is, he's certainly working it. The leather jacket makes it work I think. The bottom one is like half farmer, half-I don't know. Overly preppy pattern-lover? That scarf kills it.

Time to bury the hatchet. I've trashed the look for years on tFS. Now... I've begun to finally accept jeans tucked into boots. And I'm also starting to admit that certain boots + certain jeans can even be cute or even hot on femmes. I've even blogged that I've begun to accept jeans into boots.

So why the switch? My past ideas have been about hating this look for when it wasn't all that cold or treacherous to walk around. Yeah, I know... same old song and dance. BUT- sometimes, I have to GET myself into looks and styles to appreciate them. It took me some time (like a few years) to finally accept this look as style. The right kind of boots along with a good pair of jeans make for great looks. I've always seemed to like dark blue jeans + brown boots or somewhat light brown boots. My preference has been more towards sleek, leather, knee-high boots. I've even begun to embrace certain furry boots. There just has to be a certain combination of the right pair of jeans and an equally lovely pair of boots. Dark blue jeans with black or brown leather boots can be lovely. I even once seen white jeans tucked into a pair of natural (as in the color) boots.

I still dislike the Winter-type boots with the pom pom designs. Never liked those. But still, even as I noted a few times in my blog... I've now begun to embrace and like jeans tucked into boots. I've finally begun to respect this look as a a fashionable look rather than continually trash it for when it's not bitterly cold or terrible to walk in.

It's a really chic look on certain girls. I don't know if I like this look on guys though.

I think it's kind of done for, especially now that wider leg and tapered pants are in. But if we're just talking jeans and heeled boots or something, well there's only one way to wear that. Dullsville, though.

I've used this look and looks kinda good, quite country-like LOL but pretty stylish

So the moment I praise a style I initially don't like, it's "out?" I finally learn to accept leggings under skirts, but it's too late. That's okay... I don't believe in trends anyways. Just wear what you like that makes you YOU.

I've still finally accepted the look for the most part.

Well Im in NY, NY (The fashion capital), and its still all the rage here... You cant walk down a block without seeing a woman with her skinny jeans and boots...

Hey I still wear it and LOVE it... :P

how funny... i was just thinking about this the other day - i love tall boots and jeans tucked in and wondered will that pass? i honestly think it is a classic equestrian look that would work even if the trend died but i think it has moved past trend status. the question was first asked on here in 03....

Its so funny that you guys are divided over the issue! In Australia, almost 95% of the female population will tuck their jeans into their boots. We are so very original when it comes to dressing alike. lol!

I was on the "against" side for years on this look as a regular here. Now that I finally accept this look as a style, the look is "dead." No fashion is truly dead because you know at least one person is going to keep a look going for as long as he or she wants. I think it all comes down to a good combination of jeans + boots. I don't think I can take overly furry boots or those boots with the dangling pom pom designs which I've loathed for ages. For a look that I've never gotten into, I sometimes have to get MYSELF into the trend or certain looks. It's how I've gotten over open-toe boots and (eventually) jeans tucked into boots.

It may be a dead look to most, but you know there will be at least one person still going with a look in question.

It's great that you're with us again on this then! Those that still do it that is. In New York you can't really get past women wearing skinny jeans tucked into boots. I wear my favorite Steve Maddens to school every morning with a pair of skinny jeans. This has been moved beyond trend status, and no doubt it's going to be repeated. The only thing I really don't want to see is women wearing boots when its warm - UGGS >=[ .

I usually like darker blues with some sleek boots (preferably knee-high). The star of the show with the jeans tucked into boots look is the boots for me. That's what's being shown off after all. And if you're going to show off a pair of boots, it best be a hot pair of stylish boots. There are exceptions for furry boots, but not too many. I'm not really fond of lace-up boots, though. The color of the boots is also a strong point in making this look work.

Jeans + boots also can be lovely for non-blue denim. I've seen camel or caramel-color boots paired with white jeans. I've seen beige jeans paired with some chocolate brown boots. Again, it's all about the boots. The right pair with a nice pair of jeans can make this look work wonders.

Off-topic... And if I've gotten on peoples' cases in the past about disliking this look (sometimes to vicious extents), I apologize. But with about almost any style, I try to get over them. I'm now on the good side of this look. So proudly go with the jeans + boots combination.

The Right Boot Shaft Circumference

I recently noticed that Zappos has a search feature that searches by shaft circumference. It sounds really cool but I realized that I don't actually know what size shaft circumference I want.
I've been wanting to buy slouchy boots (mid-calf to knee high) that I can tuck jeans into but I worry about having enough extra room in the shaft to do so.

If I know the circumference of my calf (at the widest point) how much extra room should I allow so that I can tuck in skinny jeans without them looking awkwardly bunched up?

I guess you have to go into geomotry with the pie formula, but something to remember it depends on the bottom of the jean- are they skinny, boot cut, or what... my wife has some skinng cropped summer jeans that are like mid calf length and she usually wears those because they dont bag abd bunch kike konger. wider ones do.
